If you have any information regarding members of the Union Army from Barbour County I would like to post it here, please write to me Margaret Lew
Please see the excerpt from Hu Maxwell's 1899 History of Barbour County, West Virginia Federal Soldiers from Barbour which lists 104 soldiers who were paid bounties for Union service.
SUVCW asks for your assistance in adding details to their list of GAR Posts in Barbour or other areas:
Wed, 22 Mar 2000We are conducting a national search for all GAR posts that have ever existed. We are looking for the names, locations, charter dates (issue and surrender), locations of GAR halls, related websites.
We will be posting this to our web site http://www.suvcw.org once it is completed. Currently we are still crossreferencing and researching. We would appreciate any assistance in this historic effort. Should you have access to any GAR records or know of web sites listing names of members, we would like to link this to our main database, please submit the URL. If you see incomplete information or errors in this data, please let me know.
Thanks for your assistance.
