Obituary J. Lewis Jenkins

[1937, no date] Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock, Monday at the home 114 Maple avenue, North Philippi, for J. Lewis Jenkins, 57, railway telegraph operator here for the last thirty years, who shot and killed himself about 7:15 o'clock, Saturday night, at his home, after having been off duty, ill for the last five days. The Rev. C. V. COCHRAN, pastor of the Philippi Baptist church, of which the deceased was a member, had charge and interment was made in the Mary's Chapel church cemetery, about two miles west of Philippi, on the Philippi-Grafton highway. Mr. Jenkins is survived by his widow, the former Miss Icie KNOTTS, and by a daughter Mrs. Jenevieve PYLES, a music instructor in Alderson-Broaddus college, and wife of Coach Rex PYLES of the same college. He also is survived by a grandson, and by three brothers, Dr. C. M. JENKINS and Albert JENKINS, both of Philippi, the latter a former state pardon attorney and by Patrick JENKINS, of Fairmont, and a sister, Mrs. Martha DOAK, of Washington, Pa.
