1931
One of the outstanding displays of the recent Barbour County Street Fair was the
window exhibit arranged by Howard B. GRANT in one of his store windows. He had
there more than a score of guns the manufacture of which dated back many years.
Besides he had numbers of articles which brought back the memories of former days
to the sight seeing public. Kitchen utensils of all kinds, and many other articles
the grandfathers and grandmothers used instead of the modern appliances of today.
In the poultry display at the Fair we noticed a curiosity which would have been
considered a wonder in many places. It was a hen who was unable to sit down like
other chickens and stood straight all the time. We were told that this particular
fowl was a good layer and in other respects like a normal chicken.
