Traditional Stories


Private Peter M. Booher served as a cook at Camp McDonald, located at Arnoldsburg, West Virginia. While stationed there one of his children died from diphtheria. He returned to his home on the lower West Fork to bury the child at the Mount Zion Cemetery, and while he was burying this child another died.

Peter's wife, Catherine Hamrick Booher, returned to Camp McDonald with Peter and helped him with the cooking at the camp.
