    From Ruby Swadley,

Saw your great write up of the Propst and want to tell you that Frederick Propst did not marry Barbara Swadley....which I had thought for a long time....but Barbara Pence who was a sister to Mary Pence who md Henry Swadley and lived next to each other.

Also, I think I saw in the rundown of Propst that it was not known where Frederick was buried. I have found in the old Propst Church Cemetery that GFP d 1801 on a broken stone which must be Frederick. His wife Barbara went on to marry a Conrad. I do have more info on Barbara if you need it. You can find Barbara Pence on line under Richard Pense. Hope to hear from you.

    From Susanne Webb Nichols,

I’ve been plowing through the volumes of information made available for those of us who trace our roots to West Virginia. It’s been very enlightening. Thought you might be interested in the following:

In the book: The Wayne Family by Audra (Rickey) Wayne, Part III – “The First Two Marriages of Jacob Wayne”, JOSEPH/The Grandchildren of Joseph and Elizabeth (Truman) Wayne, my grandfather appears, Shirley, born April 18, 1898. My grandmother, however, was not Mary Wagoner but a woman by the name of Rebecca Jane Bailey, who was born March 4, 1897 and died of tuberculosis in February 22, 1924 leaving a daughter, my mother, Bonnie Maxine (she changed it to Maxine Bonnie) who was born in 1918 and barely survived the same disease. My mother was raised by her maternal grandparents, George and Anna Bailey. My mother never provided details but I’m sure her parents never married although she did take the name “Wayne” until she married my father. I remember visiting him once or twice when I was little after he moved to Ohio. I don’t remember Mary but I know they had 2 or 3 children together that my mother kept loosely in touch with over the years.

Maybe some day this information will help someone. The Wayne/McElwain tree has been fascinating as has been the “Hathaway” side of the family.
