Elliott Family Cemetery
_______________________________________
ELLIOTT Cemetery, Adonijah, Clay County, West Virginia
Recorded 26 June 1992 by Neva Jane STOUT BRYANT
Description: The cemetery consists of a good acre of land and is
publicly owned. No cemetery records exist, since it is strictly
a rural cemetery. No one is in charge of the cemetery; in other
words, there is no sexton.
A dirt lane divides the cemetery into three distinct sections.
There is a section to the left and above the lane; a section to
the right and above the lane; and a section below the lane.
I recorded the cemetery as follows: The section to the left and
above the lane from left to right and top to bottom; the section
to the right was recorded from left to right and top to bottom;
and the section below the lane was recorded from left to right and
top to bottom.
Location: From State Route 16 turn left on Independence Hill
(secondary road 10 -a narrow, paved road)and drive approximately
1-3/4 miles; turn left onto a one-lane, paved/dirt/gravel road and
proceed approximately 1 mile; turn right and drive approximately
.1 - .2 miles up a dirt lane (a 4-wheel drive vehicle is required
for this part of the drive).
I have added bracketed notes [ ] indicating birth, death, marriage,
parents, or spouses when known since I have relatives still living
in Adonijah who know or knew these people and some facts about them.
