Flintlock is listed in the West Virginia Heritage Encyclopedia as being a deputy sheriff in Kanawha Co.1888.,also he was the editor of the Kanawha Valley Democrat befor going to the Charleston Gazette.I have a old news paper clipping (no date or name on it) of Flintlock witha pitcure of a painting of him. Their youngest child Benjamin Franklin HUDNALL (1866-1948) and his wife Arena Belle SCHOOLCRAFT (1871/72-1946) settled in Vanetta which is across the Gauley and slightly upstream from Gauley Bridge and are buried there in Gamoca Cemetery. I am doing research on my family. My ancestorial line is as follows: My Father: Tallie W. Law, Jr mar. Betty Nisley His Father: Tallie W. Law, Sr mar. Pauline Kirk His Father: John Peter Law mar. Almira Overfelt His Father: Green C. Law mar. Nancy Hubbard These four generations lived primarily in the Fayette County area. Green C. Law moved to Fayette Co, VA (Gauley Bridge area)in 1860. In 1870 he then moved to Mercer Co. Sometime between 1870 & 1880 he moves back to Franklin Co., VA. John Peter moves back to Fayette County after 1870 and remains there until his death. Flanagan's in Fayette Co. 1850 Census: Richard Allen Flanagan lived in Sewell Twp. near present day Babcock State Park. Richard Allen moved from Albemarle Co.,VA about 1825 with his mother Mrs. James Flanagan (Nancy Allen). Robert R. Flanagan lived in the Mt.Cove (Ansted) Twp, but map sketches by W. T. Lawrence, Fayetteville, show Robert R. living only a few miles from Richard Allen across Mann's Creek.1850 Census shows a Nancy Flanagan, 62 yrs., living Robert R. Words by Lawrence indicates Richard Allen and Robert R. may be related. Richard Allen's family history does not show any relationship. Does anyone have info on Robert R',s family?

I am trying to find out as much information about my grandfathers parents as possible in order to gather both his mother and father's sides of the family for a reunion. His name was Joshua Newsom. He was born and died in Southern West Virginia. He was last married to my grand mother Virginia Ann Leftwich Newsom. The main problem that I am having is trying to identify the actual names of his parents. Their names vary on each of their dead children's obituaries. We know that my grandfathers dad's name was either William or Edward and his wife's name was Celia, Cellie, or Cecilia Parker.

Am searching for information on Anderson JERREL, who is listed on the 1840 Fayette Co. census. He is sometimes listed as Anderson Jerles, Fitzgerald, or Fitzjerrells. I know he married a Mary. Apparently they moved to Morgan Co., OH sometime between 1836-1838. They had six children together then his wife died. He remarried Sarah COX and lived in Noble Co., OH. He and Sarah had five children. Anderson had a brother, Reuben. Their father was John JERREL. Both Anderson and his son have Fitzgerald on one side of their tombstone and Jerles on the other side. My great great grandfather was Elisha Ray Humphrey 1853-1933 and my great grandfather was Fred Ray Humphrey 1886-1949. I think the family came to Fayette/Kanawha Cty. from Fluvanna Cty., VA. I have traced an Elijah and Hannah Humphrey of Fluvanna Cty who were married in 1780 and Hannah later shows up in the Fayette Cty 1860 census listed as age 100 living with a Lewis Humphrey age 48. But I have not been able to find the two or three generations that link.
