- Interested in sharing information with other SHAWVER researchers. Looking for all descendents of Sebastian SHAWVER 1733-1816. Had children: Jacob, Christopher, George, John, Elizabeth (mar Charles ROWEN), Barbara (mar ROWEN or BOWEN), Sally / Sarah (mar Henry SMITH) and dau who mar LOGSDON. George settled in the Fayette / Greenbrier area and had many descendents who remained in the area. Many of the descendents stayed in West Virginia while others moved on to OH, IN, IL, MO, AR, KS, OK and TX.

- Seeking information on children of Harmon SMITH and Bashaba "Bashey" BERRY, married in Fayette County May 8, 1849. Children believed to have been John, Joseph, Synthia and an unnamed daughter. Information I have is that a John SMITH was born to Harmon on January 14, 1849 (3 months prior to marriage?). Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you.

- In 1910, my ggg-grandfather lived in Fayette County with his daughter Alpha and her husband, John MARTIN. His name was Allen BOWLES and he was born around 1850. He died in Fayette Co, but was buried in Kanawha County. John MARTIN and Alpha were married around 1902. Allen also had a son, Wiley BOWLES (my gg-grandfather) He was married to Virginia (Reginia) Sylvia ROACH in 1909. Their daughter, Elizabeth BOWLES (my grandmother) was born there in 1910. Virginia had a son named Thornton SPRADLING in 1906. I do not know his father's name. I just know that he was killed in a cave-in before Thornton SPRADLING was born. - I am seeking the parents of James M. ROACH, born about 1848 in NC and married Rachel BLAKE, dau. of Adam BLAKE and Jemina BURGESS. Jemimia BURGESS is the dau. of James BURGESS and Rachel HUDDLESTON of Bedford Co. VA. Adam BLAKE is the son of George BLAKE and Nancy Sarah JENKINS of Greenbrier / Monroe Co. area. There seems to be 2 different ROACH families in Fayette Co about the same time and I can't connect them. The other Roach family was the family of John M. ROACH and he married Julia E. TINCHER, dau. of Samuel TINCHER and Cynthia KINCAID. This ROACH family was from the Greenbrier / Monroe Co. ROACH family. Please email.

- Does anyone have any knowledge of the John BRASH family who came to PA. in 1870's and migrated down to Fayette Co. about 1880 and settele in the Glen Jean area? John BRASH was born in Scotland and first settled in Sharon, PA. His wife was also Scottish, named, Jean KAY. Both were born about 1834 in the Lanark area of Scotland. I am seeking information on the parents of John BRASH born 1834 in Scotland. Please email. Thank you.

- Seeking information on Christopher (Christian) SMITH. Believed to have been born in Sharpsburg, Washington Co., MD abt 1740 of German descent. Am also seeking the birthdate of Harmon SMITH, son of Jacob SMITH & Jane KINCAID. His grave marker states he was 80 years old at his death on Aug. 25, 1902 (Fayette Co.). If that is so he would have been born about 1822. I have other information stating his birthdate as November 3, 1829. Since Jacob lived in Raleigh Co. assume he was born there. Don't know which county that Raleigh was formed from he may have been born in. Thank you.

- Looking for parents and/or siblings for Andrew G. TAYLOR, who married Martha Ann BIBB (daughter of Reverend Martin T. BIBB) in Fayette Co., VA (now WV) on March 27, 1849. They had the following children, all born in Fayette Co.: (1) Virginia Caroline Taylor b. January 12, 1853 married David Franklin RUSSELL April 16, 1868 Fayette Co., WV later lived in Montgomery Co., MO and Yell Co., AR, died in Hugo, Choctaw Co, OK on May 26, 1921; (2) James L. TAYLOR b. abt 1854; (3) Rufus M. TAYLOR b. abt 1859 (4) George TAYLOR b. abt 1860; (5) Andrew G. TAYLOR died in the Civil War while serving as a private in Co. C, 22nd VA Infantry (formerly the 1st Kanawha Regiment) . I THINK his parents may be James and Nancy TAYLOR, who were living with M.P. ARBAUGH and Nancy TAYLOR ARBAUGH in 1850. His siblings MAY be George W. TAYLOR and William TAYLOR. Perhaps even Sarah Martha TAYLOR, who later married Martha Ann BIBB TAYLOR's father Martin T. BIBB.

- George Washington SMITH, Sr. (b. Dec. 25, 1826, Greenbrier, d. Jan. 19, 1862 at Battle of Gauley Mountain (Fayette County?) during the Civil War. He lived most of his life in Abraham, Raleigh Co. Looking for information on George Sr. or the battle. Thanks.

- James WEAR family is shown in the 1840 Census for Fayette Co., page 135, twp. L. the census shows 1 male 5 to 10, 1 female 10 to 15, 1 male 15 to 20, 1 male 20 to 30, 1 female 40 to 50, & 1 male 50 to 60. David and Benjamin wear moved to Portsmouth, Ohio from West Virgina before 1850. Ther is 15 years difference in the brothers ages. Any information would be appreciated.

Had at least two children, Jake (Jacob?) and maybe Joe Jr. Jake was born abt. 1908, Hawks Nest, WV., married Gertrude JOHNSON, 7/11/31, died auto wreck abt. 1938, Campbell Co., Va. - I am looking for information on John LIGHT. He is listed in the 1840 census as living in Fayette County. I believe he moved from Frederick Co. to Fayette after 1830. I also believe he died before the 1850 census. He was married in 1815 to Catharine SHUTT in Frederick Co. Would appreciate information on a death record and/or will.

- I am Looking for the maiden name of Margaret born a. 1797 in KY married William FOX born a. 1801 s/o William FOX Sr. and Elizabeth DURAN of Greenbrier County. William FOX Jr. and Margaret ? were living in Fayette County in 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880. I need their death dates. In 1850 a child, Virginia LUSHER b. 1848 was living with them, and in 1870 Rufus ADKINS b. 1863, was living with them, Whose children were these? Was Margaret a HARRAH? She was born in KY and living 6 houses from them is a Thomas HARRAH, age 70 b. KY. I have not run across any others in that area b. in KY? William FOX Sr. was the son of Samuel FOX I. I would like to hear from anyone working on these families.

- I am researching the Kincaid family of Fayette/Greenbrier, VA/WVA. William B. KINCAID married Mildred Virginia MORTON in 1857 in Nicholas, VA. William's parents were William KINCAID and Virginia Jane VANCE KINCAID. William's parents were Samuel KINCAID and Mary TINCHER. Virginia's parents were John Jr. and Elizabeth GILLASPIE. Samuel and John Jr. were brothers and their parents were John KINCAID and Ann GRAHAM. Any one know of these families. Have alot of missing data. They were in the Greenbrier/Fayette area for a long time.
