Would like information on a killing in Greenbrier County sometime after 1909. My mother who was born in 1909 remembers that when she was a child she was teased about her grandfather, James John Green, killing a man named Levesay or Livesay. James John Green was the son of Henry A. and Eiza Jane Green Green, and he was married first to Margaret Ann Honaker, d/o Frederick Styrus and Elizabeth Coats Honaker (Eliz. from Madison Co.). Grandpa Green, as we called him, or J. J. as others called him, was born in Rockbridge Co. about 1862 and later moved to Greenbrier. He worked for the Railroad and then the stockyards. I am researching the lines of John SIERS/SIRES and Joseph SIERS/SIRES. John was in Greenbrier co by 1780. Joseph Sires married Elizabeth McDADE in Greenbrier co in 1787. John Siers was married to Sarah PAUL. These Siers/Sires originally came from Fauquier and Prince William counties. I currently do not know if Joseph was a son or younger brother of John Siers/Sires. FLEMING, BUTLER, EAGLE Looking for information on Eleanor FLEMING born in Greenbrier County probably in the early 1700's. She supposedly died in 1769, but I don't know if she was still in Greenbrier County at the time. Eleanor may have married a BUTLER, possibly a James or a Thomas BUTLER. She may have been the mother or grandmother of (James?) Fleming BUTLER who married Elizabeth Betsey EAGLE 1816 in Greenbrier. Fleming and Elizabeth went to Gallia County, Ohio and lived there until they died. Elizabeth was the daughter of George EAGLE and Maria Elisabeth Hengerer. I am looking for possible connections to my BUTLER line which is James BUTLER and Hannah HARRAH/O'HARA also of Greenbrier. James's father, also named James married Mary Ann SIMS/SYMMES, and they also moved to Gallia County Ohio, so there must be some connection. Mims Deborah Cobb
I am looking for the parents of Linah Mims. His wife was Rebecca, and they had at least three children: John H., born 1806; Julia Ann, born 1812; and Cornelia B., born 1816. Linah appears on the tax records/censuses in Lewisburg, Greenbriar Co. in 1790, 1800, and 1810, but vanishes by 1820 and appeares in 1830 in Eddyville, KY. Linah also apparently served as the acting Governor of Virginia sometime between 1810 and 1820, but this is unconfirmed so far!

I am trying to identify the parents of Harden SCAGGS who was born in c1831. In 1860, he and his wife, Mahulda Jane CHRISTIAN, lived in Wayne, WV (then still part of VA) and their children were Isaac (1851), William Eldridge, George Henry, California, Mary Elizabeth, Allen and Bellyona. Harden does not appear in the county censuses around Wayne in 1850 so I am widening the circle. In 1850 there was an Alex S. Scaggs who lived in Greenbrier County. I would appreciate any information on his children or any other SCAGGS/SKAGGS/SKEGGS who might be the parent of Harden SCAGGS.
