Company of Local Business Men, Incorporated for $10,000 Backing Project
Weirton, June 22, (1927) -- The grand opening of the New Weirton amusement park, located about a mile north of this city on Kings Creek, will be made on Monday, July 4, according to the announcement made on Tuesday. The Park, now under construction, is being promoted by a company of local interests, who have incorporated for $10,000 under the name of the Weirton Amusement Company. Aside from the new swimming pool and dance hall which is under construction by the amusement company, outside interest will install a ferris wheel, merry-go-round and other lesser amusements so company officials announced today. The park, a long need of the community, will serve in the immediate vincinity over 20,000, while it is likely to become a mecca for amusement from neighboring communities. A high fence is now under construction around the park, which is ideal in its location among the West Virginia hills, with all its natural beauties.
