COMRADE: There will be a Re-Union of Ex-Soldiers held at New Cumberland, W. Va. on
Saturday, May 29th 1886, at which time the Soldiers' Monument erected buy the citizens
of Hancock County, to the Memory of the Defenders of the Union, in the War of Rebellion,
will be dedicated.
At 9 o'clock A.M., the graves of deceased soldiers buried in the New Cumberland Cemetery
will be strewn with flowers.
At 12 o'clock a Free Dinner will be served in the Rink to all Visiting Comrades.
At 1 o'clock P.M., the Command will be formed in marching order and a short Parade
will be had, ending at the Court House grounds, where the monument will be unveiled.
The Dedicatory address will be delivered by the Hon. John A. Campbell, of New Cumberland,
to be followed by Comrade F. H. Crago, of Wheeling, in a Memorial Address.
Good music will be in attendance.
In the evening a Camp Fire will be held in the Rink, in which it is desired that all
who can will take part. As the stirring times which we commemorate by these Re-unions
grow more distant with each fleeting year, by the same cause is the opportunity lessened
for us to participate in these gatherings. Let us therefore come together while we can,
and cherish the ties of brotherhood formed amid scenes of battle and made sacred by the
blood of our fallen comrades.
We request your presence and assistance on that day.
New Cumberland, W. Va., April 23d, 1886
