Will of Thomas Bean 1838 - 1847

In the name of God Amen, I Thomas Bean, Sen. of the County of Hardy
and State of Virginia considering the uncertainty of this mortal life
and being of sound mind and memory, Blessed be Almighty God for the
same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and
form following to wit: First, I give and bequeath unto my three youngest
sons namely Horatio, Samuel and Richard the place, farm or tract of land
whereon I now reside, lying and being in the county of Hardy and State
of Virginia on the head of Teagues? Run?, a branch of the North River of
Great Cacapon, adjoining their own land and the land of John Burch, Sr.
with all and singular the herediments and appurtenances thereto
belonging or in any wise apportaining thereto to be equally divided
between them for their own proper use and behalf and their heirs
forever. Secondly-I will and bequeath that the above named Horatio Bean,
Samuel Bean and Richard Bean shall come and remain in full and peaceable
possession of the above named premises at my decease and enjoy the same,
them and their heirs forever. In Witness Whereof, I hereunto set my hand
and seal this 16th day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred
and thirty eight. Signed Thomas Bean.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named Thomas Bean,
Sen. to be his last will and testament in the presents of us who have
hereunto subscribed their names as witnesses in the presents of the
testator: Bennett Bean 2nd, Robert Bean, Joseph Starkey.

At a court held for Hardy County the 4th day of January 1847, This
Last will and testament of Thomas Bean, Sen., decid, was proved by the
oaths of Robert Bean & Joseph Starkey, two of the subscribing witnesses
thereto, and ordered to be recorded. And Administration with the will
annexed is granted Samuel Bean on giving bond and security whereupon he
with security entered into and acknowledged bond conditioned as the law
