Hardy Co (W) VA Will Book 2, pp. 164-165:
3/2/1816 Will of Christian Wise
I, Christian Wise of the County of Hardy and State of Virginia, do hereby make my Last Will and
Testament in manner and form following. That is to say 1st I deme [sic] that my Executor, whom
I shall hereafter appoint, do name [to] [missing corner] Dutily [sic] sell my plantation lying on the
East Section of the Lost River [p. 165] joining the land of George Claypool and that the money
and my three farms be equally divided between my two sons Frederick Wise & John Wise and my
daughter Lydia Wilkin. And lastly I do name, constitute, and appoint my son Frederick Wise my
Executor of this my last will and Testament in which whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
seal this 2nd day of March 1816.

At Court held for Hardy County the 9th day of April 1816. This last will and testament of
Christian Wise dec'd was proved by the oaths of Anthony Miller and Jonathan Branson the
witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And in the motion of Frederick Wise, the Executor
therein named, a certificate for attaining a probate will of _____ [inserted above the line] is
granted him, he having taken the oath of an Executor and by this with Security entered into and
appoin-ted as a bond Conditioned as the law directs.
