This indenture made this 14 day of November in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and forty four, between John Smith and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Hardy and the State of Virginia of the one part and William Wilson of the same place of the second part, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said William Wilson .....

..... a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres, situate[d] in Hardy County adjoining the land of Samuel Babb the heirs of John Bishop & others on the waters of Pattersons Creek patented to John Smith by Governor Gilmer of Virginia as will more fully appear by said patent and bound as follows to wit, Beginning at three pines, Bishops corner, thence S88-W80 poles to a pine red oak, hickory on a hill, thence N44-W18 poles to two pines, thence N39-E55 poles to a pine & chesnut oak, thence N16-E25 poles to two white oaks & hickory, Babb's corner, thence N15-W22 poles to white oak, Martin's corner, on the south side of Brushy Run, thence with his line N2-W98 poles to two white oaks on the west side of a drain, thence N22-E34 poles to three white oaks on the banks of said drain a division corner, thence S46-E76 poles to two pines corner to Cornell & Bishop, thence South 179 poles to the beginning .....
