In the name of God Amen, I, John Westfall, of the County of Hardy and State of Virginia, Do
make this my Last Will and Testament in the following manner.
In prime I bequeath my Sole to Almighty God, a being infinitely good, in Humble Hope of his
future mercy. As to my body it is my desire that it be decently buried and in a Christian
manner.
Item - It is my desire that my Funeral charges and all my just debts be first paid after my
Decease.
Item - I bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah, one third part of my land during her life, also my
Negro Jack, and my wench Megigen and one third part of my moveable property.
Item - I bequeath to my Sons, Isaac and Jacob Westfall my plantation I now live on, their heirs
and assigns forever. Each to have an equal part of the upland and bottom land, my son Isaac to
have the upper part of the said plantation. It is my will that my aforesaid plantation be appraised
by two or more Creditable men, and that my sons Able, John, Cornelius, and Abraham Westfall,
their heirs and assigns to each of them one sixth part of said valuation. Deducting out of such
payment what I formally gave them or either of them.
Item - I bequeath to my son Isaac Westfall my Negro Tom, he paying to each of his brothers one
fifth part of the value of said Negro, he being valued as for said.
Item - It is my Will that the remainder of my property be equally divided amongst all my
children, and lastly, I do constitute and appoint My trusty friends, Jacob Fisher and Ezekiel
Bogart, also my sons Abel and Cornelius Westfall Executors of this my Last Will and Testament
signed with my hand and sealed this 9th day of Feby. 1789

At a Court held for Hardy County this 13th day of April 1789
This Last Will and Testament of John Westfall Deceased was proved by oaths of John
Snyder, William Baley, and Benjamin Williams, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
Jacob Fisher one of the Executors, having complied with the law, Certificate is granted him for
obtaining a probate of these in due forms, giving security, where upon he with security entered
into and acknowledged Bond Conditions as the Law directs, Ezekiel Bogard and Cornelius
Westfall in open court defined, having refused taken upon themselves the burden of Executors
which is ordered to be certified

This Last Will and Testament of John Westfall deceased was proved by the oaths of John Snyder, William Baley, and Benjamin Williams, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
