My name is
Cathy Leonard, and I am the coordinator for
the Harrison
County WVGenWeb page. Mariana Zuelsdorf,
record sleuth
extraordinaire, is the Harrison County
History Advisor.
Though we don't reside in West Virginia,
we both have
many Harrison County connections!
Harrison County
was created in 1784 from
Monongalia
County, (West) Virginia. At that time,
Harrison County
included all or parts of the
following
counties:
Barbour,
Braxton,
Doddridge,
Gilmer,
Lewis,
Marion,
Randolph,
Ritchie,
Taylor,
Upshur, and Wood.
Records for
residents of all of these counties prior to
their formation
will be found in Harrison County and/or
Monongalia
County.
The
West Virginia Archives & History
now have part of
their
