John Asbury/Asberry died March 23,1812 buried at SB of Estate, Harrison County,(W)VA.

Amherst County,Virginia, Will book 1, page 273 notes Guardian Bond of 7 November 1774 .
Guardian was William Garrison, ward was William Bolling Asbury, orphan. Parent: John Asbury,
Bondsman: Joseph Mays and John Davis. 


The Asbury's of America:

John appears on the Washington County,Virginia Tax list of 1782-1787,on Russell County Tax
list 1788-1805, always with one tithable (himself).
Land was surveyed for him in Washington County. 2 November 1781, which was patented
17 November 1793, it lay apparently partly in Russell County & partly in Tazewell County,
Virginia
.
John Asbury and his second wife Keziah deeded it away in three consecutive deeds:
1.one to Robert Belsher 15 August 1796 in Russell County,Deed Book 2, page 170,
2.one to William Asbury (son of George ) 2 March 1801 & 
3.one to Christian Trout 15 Nov. 1805,both of these deeds being recorded in Tazewell County,
Virginia
(Deed Book 1,pages 35 & 235). 
John Asbury last appears in the personal tax lists of Russell in late 1805 and he probably 
died there in late 1805 or early 1806 about the age of 85 years.

John and 2nd ? wife Keziah deeded three deeds in One to Robert Belcher
August 15 1796, Russell County,Virginia- Deed Book 2, page 170 to William Asbury  (s/o George)
March 2 1801, one to Christian Trout Nov. 15, 1805 both of these recorded in Tazewell 
County,Virginia Deed Book 1, page 35 & 235

John Asbury/Asberry left Tazewell County,Virginia by 1782
Property: November 2 1781 Land was surveyed in Washington County,Virginia. 
Patented November 17,1793 Lay partly in Tazewell County & Russell County,Virginia
William Asberry Tazewell County Land Grants 165 acres,2 September 1811, 
65 of which is part of 115 acres granted to John Asbury patent 21 November 1793.
Residents of Russell County 1801 ??? 
John died age 66------as confirmed by George (son) and Mary J. Evans
 



Indenture for Land Deed to her Daughter Nancy Hickcox

January 5,1802,page 474, Jane Asberry of Harrison County,Virginia to her
daughter, Nancy Hickcox,of same,for good cause,the right to live on the 
property her mother lives...also chattel goods
except petticoat for other daughter Mary Lake.(this was the Deed Indenture)

Witnesses: John Asberry and Thomas Asbury (her sons)

Mary was the wife of William Lake, Jr. son of William Lake,Sr. & Anne Redman.
William Lake,Sr is son of John Lake, Jr. & Mary Harris. 
This proves that Mary is indeed the daughter of Jane Ankerum & William Lake, Jr.
Jane Ankerum/Akrom/Ankrum died in Harrison County in January 1915.
