John Asbury/Asberry died March 23,1812
buried at SB of Estate, Harrison County,(W)VA.
Amherst County,Virginia, Will book
1, page 273 notes Guardian Bond of 7 November 1774 .
Guardian was William Garrison, ward
was William Bolling Asbury, orphan. Parent: John Asbury,
Bondsman: Joseph Mays and John Davis.

The Asbury's of America:
John appears on the Washington County,Virginia
Tax list of 1782-1787,on Russell County Tax
list 1788-1805, always with one
tithable (himself).
Land was surveyed for him in Washington
County. 2 November 1781, which was patented
17 November 1793, it lay apparently
partly in Russell County & partly in Tazewell County,
Virginia
.
John Asbury and his second wife
Keziah deeded it away in three consecutive deeds:
1.one to Robert Belsher 15 August
1796 in Russell County,Deed Book 2, page 170,
2.one to William Asbury (son of
George ) 2 March 1801 &
3.one to Christian Trout 15 Nov.
1805,both of these deeds being recorded in Tazewell County,
Virginia
(Deed Book 1,pages 35 & 235).
John Asbury last appears in the
personal tax lists of Russell in late 1805 and he probably
died there in late 1805 or early
1806 about the age of 85 years.

Mary was the wife of William Lake,
Jr. son of William Lake,Sr. & Anne Redman.
William Lake,Sr is son of John Lake,
Jr. & Mary Harris.
This proves that Mary is indeed
the daughter of Jane Ankerum & William Lake, Jr.
Jane Ankerum/Akrom/Ankrum died in
Harrison County in January 1915.
