Pleasant View Church Cemetery

Location: on Fisher Ridge
Directions: From Charleston: I-77 North, get off on the Goldtown Exit 119. Turn left on CR-21 and drive .1 mile. Turn right on Dudden Fork road and drive .4 mile (end of road) and turn left & drive .1 mile and get on the Highland Farms Rd. Drive about 1.2 miles (end of road), make a left on Fisher Ridge and drive approximately .3 miles, Pleasant View United Methodist Church is on the left. At one time the church was located on the east side of the road, and the cemetery was across the road from it, but it's been re-built on the west side.

There are 3 cemeteries as you approach the Church and 1 cemetery on the north side of the Church. The Carney cemetery is the first cemetery as you approach the Church, the next is Fisher #2, followed by Fisher #1. There are 3 Lanham burials on the west side of the Fishers, outside the fence. They all seem to be considered part of the Pleasant View Church Cemetery. Sketch of cemeteries

Any text contained within [brackets] are notes by either Paula Duff or those in "Jackson County Cemeteries, Vol 1" by the Jackson County Historical Society, which was used to make sure we had all the burials.

This note is found on findagrave.com and it explains the Fisher burials. Our thanks to the person who posted this on Findagrave:
Greenberry Fisher Cemetery was located across the road from the old Fisher Chapel United Methodist Church on Rt 21. It was moved in 1959 due to construction of I-77. It is now located near Pleasant Vew Church on Fisher Ridge. There are 7 other graves below the main section of the cemetery, where the fieldstones were removed in the 1970s to make mowing easy. Info was told to me by Great Uncle Wendell H. Fisher who overseen the moving of the cemetery. Uncle Wendell said when Cooke Funeral Home moved the cemetery, they dug down to the black dirt, removed all the black dirt, which was remains, and place each one in a metal box. Everyone buried there is either in a vault or metal box.
