My g-g-grandfather Andrew Caldwell was born in Logan Virginia, now West Viriginia. Sometime between then and 1853 he moved to Boone County, Indiana, and was married there. I have reason to believe that his parents may have been Seth Caldwell II and Nancy Rice. Seth was son or brother to William Caldwell. I'm trying to find some info on Andrew's birth to see if Seth was in fact his father. Also trying to explore beyond that to William and Seth I. I am searching for information regaurding my grandfather's family tree. I can't seem to find much. His name was Emannuel Collins b. June 1, 1911 and d. July 1, 1997. He was born in Greenup Co., KY and then moved to Logan, WV shortly after. His father was Ruford "Rufus" Allen Collins and his mother was Elizabeth McCarty. Siblings were Espanola Collins, Rose Collins, Mary Collins, Millard Collins, and others not known. His brother Millard had a son Millard Roy Collins who is still living. I am trying to find information regarding (ANDREW) EDWARD MCCORMICK. He was killed while on watch in one of the mines of Logan County on November 16, 1942. They lived in Starrit at this time. His wife was (ELIZABETH) ETHEL. He was buried there and the cemetary has no access at this time? The family lived in Mingo County at one time and he was Sheriff? She is also listed in the 1870 census as being married 2nd to a James Cline. She had one son by Hurley. His name was William [Will] Anderson Hurley. I am looking for any information on my Grandfather, Charles Edward Jackson Sr. He was married to Hazel Evelyn Bryant, who passed away when my father, Donald E. Jackson( born in 1941 in Logan, W VA) was young. Charles and Hazel also had another son, Charles Edward Jackson, Jr. who was killed in a car accident when he was 16 or 17 near Galipolis, Ohio. My father and grandfather were separated after the deaths and had no contact. I beleive my grandfather(Charles) was possibly born between 1880 and 1920(my father said he was an older man when he was born) give or take. I am searching info John R. Hall appeared after Civil War Lawrence Co,Ohio. Married Amanda Everly there 1868 die there 1899. Before Ohio is a mystery, but he served 2nd WV Cav. The 1870 census and his Grandson age 93 state born in Ky "maybe Lawrence Co,Ky". Grandson George says John R. Hall killed a man with rifle in "Ky". Claims i was a "Devil Anse" which can't be Devil Anse Hatfield...but he may(?) have been involved early somehow. George also says his grandpa was not a Hall, changed his name after the killing and came to Ohio. Truth is John came to Ohio BEFORE the actual main Feud. If he did have anything to do with the feuding families he musta been on McCoy side? Real name could be Stilles according to one source. John was born 1839-42. Don't understand his connection from WV-KY but maybe lived bordering counties. Anyone have any ideas? Where was 2nd WV Cav stationed and could he have lived in Ky but been in WV unit??

I am looking for information concerning a Riley A. Tharp (1866--1923) He married a Sylvia Black. They produced three or four children but the only names I know are John Chapman Montivon "Monty" Tharp born 5-11-1903 at Shoals, WV and died 10-23-1978 and he was married to Pearle Snyder (9-17-1907 -- 6-18-1986) on 5-24-1924 in Ironton, Ohio They had no children. The other children were also a son by the name Alfred Tharp and a sister by the name Sylvia Tharp and possibly another but I cannot be sure. I am looking for information about the James Harris family. I am told that he was born around 1820 in Wythe County, VA. Then homesteaded in Logan Co. (now Mingo County) sometime in the mid 1800's. His wife's name was Margaret (Peggy) Pinson. I have been unable to find any information on her date of death. They had several children. One of whom, Robert Lee married Rebecca Farley, d/o Samuel G. Farley and Mary Ann Varney. Concerning Robert and Rebecca, I have found 2 different years for Robert's birth, but am unable to confirm either. I am trying to find information about my paternal grandfather. He supposedly lived in Logan before coming to Scott County, Tennessee in the early l900's. He died around l948 in Scott County. He went by the name John Blankenship, but some older family members have told me that his real name was John O'Quinn. I have no idea when he was born, or if he was even born in Logan. He was a medium height, medium built man who had coal black hair that he wore combed straight back from his face, and was said to have been an excellent shot with pistols, especially from a moving horse. I know that's not much to go on, but any information at this point would help. Thank you.

I am looking for any information on my wife's grandfather. His name was Eilge or Elije Clark. He died at Man in 1940 or '46. He is buried at the Claypool cemetary. I am searching for my Grandmother's death certificate. She died at our house in Hensley, WV when I was 7 years old, April 1 1951. I have tried Charleston vital records, McDowell Co, & Wyoming Co and all reply they don't have the record. I'm wondering if Hensley is in Logan Co. The county finder lists it under both McDowell Co and Logan Co. Is there someone on the list who has access to Logan Co vital records? I would appreciate so much knowing if it is there before I lose another $5 requesting it. Her name was Irene Trinville Ward Steel. But the name on her head stone is Trinnia Ward Steel. There was a disagreement about the name that was to be put on the head stone, but since she died at our house, my Mom, Goldie May Bowling Stanley, would have given the information, and being the oldest child, she would have known the correct name, which was Irene Trinville Ward Steel. I am in the beginning stages of trying to trace my family tree and have started at my great-grandfather. I am looking for information on John Cornett. His only son was named Frank (my grandfather). Frank had a nickname of Pete, supposedly he got this name as a refrence to his grandfather, as in Pete jr. John was born around 1900, Frank in 1923-1928 somewhere in there. My grandmother was Beulah mae Kennedy Born Jun 26 1926 at Ethel, WV. I can not find much more than this. Her family is all deceased, which makes it hard to find anything. I was told that her father was a Lee Kennedy from Fairmont WV. I don't know if this is true.Her mother was Edith Ferrell Flemings. I don't know how to find out anything else. Beulah's children were to small to remember very much. She never married, so that makes it much harder to find anything. I have searched the SSDI and she is not listed. I was told as a child that she was a calm and quiet person it would seem so... I know she did exist because I know where she is buried. My Grandfather's brother, Edward Boling, was born in West Virginia in 1870. My Grandfather, Horatio Seymour Boling, and an older brother, William R Boling, were born in Wayne Co WV in 1868 & 1867, but Edward wasn't. Since it seems logical they might have moved to a neighboring county before Edward was born, does anyone in Logan Co have any information on them? The parents were William A & Nancy J Mullins Boling. I am hunting for information on the family of George Shafer Claypool and his wife, Penelope Hinchman Claypool. I would like to know the names of their children, grand children and etc. One of their children, William (Will) Bruce Claypool was my wife's grandfather. I have seen information that they are in the 1860 and 1870 Logan County Census, which I do not have access to. Came across the name of Charles Eugene Serey in the Navy Log of the Navy Memorial in Washington DC.It shows he was born in Logan WV on Oct 30 1924 and entered the Navy in Oct 1942 to 1948.It shows he served aboard The USS Leyte Cv32 in 1947/48. As a member of the USS Leyte CV32 association I was wondering if he or family still live in Logan WV.If he has passed on we would like to enter him name in our memorial book.
