Marion County Genealogical Club |
The Marion County Genealogical Club is located
in the Marion County Public Library, 321 Monroe Street, Fairmont, West Virginia 26554. Phone
304-366-1210 Ext. 12.
The genealogical room contains family and county histories, court records, census, cemetery,
birth, death, marriage records, and more, from Marion County and surrounding counties.
The room is open on Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m. The Genealogy Room is closed on days when the library (where the room is located) is
closed.
In-depth research is not available
from the volunteer staff.
Membership in the club is $7 for an individual or $12 for a family for a calendar year. The membership
includes the quarterly publication Genealogical Gleanings. To join, make a check
payable to Marion County Genealogical Club and mail to the Club, c/o Mrs. Eleanor Carter,
1700 Ritchie Avenue, Fairmont, West Virginia, 26554.
The sale of publications is the main source of income, and census, cemetery, birth, death, and other records are available
at a reasonable price. Call the club at 304-366-1210 ext.12 during their regular hours with

Maple Grove Cemetery

An updated list completed in 2011. Digital photos were created over several years of most of the tombstones in this cemetery. The WPA cemetery list of 1941 and updated lists of 1981 and 1986 were used to include names when tombstones were not located. Many of the names on the new list are annotated with names of spouses and parents obtained from vital records and obituaries.

The GENEALOGY GLEANINGS is published in March,
June, September and December.
New members may submit surnames being researched
for listing in the membership Surname Directory and in the next issue of the GENEALOGY
GLEANINGS. Surnames submission should be no more than three typed lines, in addition to
your name, address, and email-address.
Queries for publication should be limited to
five typed lines, excluding address. Include known dates as well as place of residence
at any particular time. There is no charge to members and $1.75 to non-members. All submissions
must be received by the 5th day of the month preceding the date of publication. Send to:
