Listed in Ohio Co., Will Book 2, Page 172 (Copied by Charles Marling for "Marling Family Records" from information found in Wheeling Library, Ohio Co., WV.) In the name of God Amen I John Marling a citizen of Ohio County and state of Virginia being weak of body, but sound of mind & Disposing Judgement, Calling to Mind my Mortality, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, revoking all others,(first) I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Isabel whilst she remains my widow the one third part of my real estate and the privilege of my mansion house, but case she does remove herself from being my widow, I will to her my said wife the servide of my black woman Jude, during the life of sd. Isabel, then sd. negro to be returned to my estate, my black child Prisula I will to my son Mathew Marling untill the sd. Priscilla comes of age 21 and then to be free, if the law of the state will admit it to be so at that time, I further will that my whole estate real and personal be kept together during my wife Isabels life if she remains my widow & if she does marry I then give the possession of my land to my sons Mathew Samuel & Moses Marling equal my person estate, I dispose of in manner following, I give to my daughter Elizabeth fifty dollars in cash & a horse worth fifty dollars together with a saddle & bridle one set of drawers now claimed by sd Elizabeth one feather bed & furniture & all her own Mothers & Step Mothers wearing apparel (say the deceased step mothers apparel) I further will to my four eldest sons John James Elija and William Marling twenty dollars each to be paid them one year after my death by my executor, this being their full dividend of my estate my daughter Sarah Oldhams having had her full dividend of my estate in time past, I will her no more, The whole of my personal estate not otherwise disposed of I will to my three youngest sons Mathew Samuel & Moses Marling to be equally divided amongst them at my wifes death if she remains my widow if otherwise to be divided when Moses Marling comes of age. Lastly I appoint my son Mathew Marling my whole & sole executor of this my las will and testament, revoking all others.
