Marshall County Will Book 2, page 27 In the name of God amen I John S. Riggs in view of the uncertianty of life and the certianty of death, and being of sound mind and disposing memory do make and publish this my last will ands testament. I devise and bequeath my property real and personal as follows: I desire that my farm be sold two years after my death. either private or public sale as my executor hereinafter named may elect. The proceeds of the sale of the farm to be used and distributed as follows: I desire that my wife Mary Riggs shall have one hundred per year up to the sale of the farm. after the sale farm she shall receive two hundred and twenty five dollars per year during her natural life. The payments to be made to her ??? to her in the sale of the farm. She shall have the use of the house free of rent up the time of the sale of farm, and shall have her bed, meat fruit and pastureage and shelter for one cow and my interest and title in my cottage and Lot on the camp mound I make the foregoing bequests in in lien of her legal dower in the farm: I desire that my three sons William H. Riggs. Wesley C. Riggs and Hanson Riggs shall have the balance of the proceeds of the sale of my farm to be equally divided between them. and also desire that all notes and receipts now in my- possesion given for money paid to my three sons William H. Riggs Wesley C. Riggs and Hanson Riggs to be paid and returned to them. In addition to other bequests I desire that my wife Mary Riggs shall have one sewing machine. one dressing stand one bed stand and one half of the remainder of my household goods one half of the poultry owned one cow. I desire that the remainder of my personal property be sold after paying all my legal liabilities the balance to be equally divided between my sons heretofore named in this will. I appoint Wesley C. Riggs and Hanson Riggs me executors of this will. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 17th day of January 1888 J.S. Edwards West Virginia Clerks Office Marshall County Court May 5th 1888 A paper writing bearing date on the 17th day of January 1888 purporting to be the last will and testament of J S Riggs late of this Conty deceased was this day fully proved before me in my office by the oaths of Lemuel Riggs and Geo. Edwards the subscribing witnesses thereto and is ordered to be recorded and Leave is given W.C.
