Will of Mahlon Riggs.

Marshall County Will Book 2, page 180

Marshall County State of Wes. Va. This my last will made this
12 day of October in the year of our lord One Thousand eight hundred
and eighty one. I Mahlon Riggs I give divide bequeath my estate and
property Real and Personal as follows to Wyley Montcalm Riggs I give
my farm on the following conditions Wyley pay to Thoma G. Riggs five
hundred dollars within one year after my death. and to William D.
Riggs five hundred dollars within two years after my death. and
to Mary Buchanon three hundred dollars at any time within five
years and to Olivia Columbia Adair three hundred dollars at any
time within six years. Sarah C. Riggs and Emma Riggs are to retain
their shares so long as they remain single but and if they
marry. Then Wyley is to have their shares and to pay each of them
three hundred dollars. Sarah C. Riggs and Emma Riggs are to
have all the house hold goods and kitchen goods. except William and
Wyley is to have each of them one feather bed apiece. Sarah C. Riggs
and Emma is to have the house or as much as may be for their
??? comfort and convenience they so long as they remain single
and at home and to have yard orchard and garden and to have one
cow apiece and one horse only and fowls and all the comforts the farm
afords so long as they remain single. and if they marry they take
their share three hundred dollars each and Wyley to have full and
peasible possesion. I Mahlon Riggs this day appoint Wyley Mt. C. Riggs
executor of this my last and only will.

West Virginia Clerks Office Marshall County Court. July 25th 1883
A paper writing bearing date Oct. 12th 1881 purporrting to be the last
will and testament of Mahlon Riggs late of this County deceased was
this day proved by the oaths of H.W. Hunter and David Levi to be
wholly in the hand writing of the testor as well as the signature
thereto affixed. The sworn statement of which witnesses sworn to and
subscribed by them is filed herewith. Thereupon the said paper
writing is this day admitted to probate as and for the last will and
testament of Mahlon Riggs late of this County decd. and leave is
given to Wyley M. Riggs the executor therein named to some
future day to give the bond and qualify as such executor.
