The following submitted by T. Vernon Anderson:

"My G-G-G-Grandparents, Reason Yeater (8 OCT 1825 - 30 JUN 1905) and Mary Shepherd Yeater (12 NOV 1826 - 9 NOV 1902) are buried in the Shepherd Methodist Church Cemetery. They have the largest tombstone in this cemetery. They also donated the land for this church and cemetery.

There are those who say Mary's father, Nathaniel Shepherd, donated this land to the church. This is not true. What happened is Nathaniel gave land to Mary & Reason as a wedding present and they later gave some of this land to the church.

If you look at Marshall County Deed Book 42, page 100-1, Reason & Mary Yeater sell to Jeremiah Mason, James Stewart, Nathan Shepherd (brother of Mary Shepherd Yeater), and others, Trustees of the M. E. Church at the Shepherd Meeting House for 5 dollars, the land for Shepherd Church and Cemetery.

There are also others who claim to have named the community of Adaline. Reason Yeater operated a store there and he was also the postmaster. As postmaster, he named the town for his only daughter, Adaline."
