Circuit Court Will Book 1, page 24
In the name of God I James McMahon of Ohio county and state of Virginia do hereby, make this my last will and testament in form and manner as followeth to wit after my death and the payment of all my just debts and furneral charges I do desire as followeth
Item 1st I do bequeath unto my beloved wife Hannah one hundred acres of land runing from the river to the back line taking the house and orchard & barn one mare and saddle two beds & beding six sheep two cows four hogs one desk during or so long as she remains my widow or her death
Item 2d I do bequeath to my daughter Orphy one hundred acres of land being part of the track I now live on to be taken off the upper end adjoining Simms land to begin at Simms corner and the bank of the Ohio river and runing out to my back line thence as far down the river as will make one hundred acres which she a deed for to be Sally at her own disposal forever.
Item 3d I do bequeath to my daughter Ruth two cows & fifty acres of land beginning ar Orphys corner and runing out to my back line thence as far down as to make fifty acres to be at her own disposal forever.
Item 4th I do bequeath to my daughter Sally Williamson ten acres of land where she now lives which is laid out for her to be at her own disposal forever Item 5 to my daughter Jane I have provided for before and I leave her no more of my estate
Item 6th to my daughter Sally Williamson I have provided for before and I leave her no more of my estate.
Item 7th I do bequeath to my daughters Rachel Wells & Sally Williamson and Elizabeth Burris all the ballance of my land that I hold of that track which I now live on likewise the hundred acres which my wife has until her death and all the moveable property except that mentioned before the property all to be divided equally between them after they pay my debts to be sole by at their own disposal forever.
Item 8th and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint Charles P. Wells my sole executor of this my last will and testament in testamony whereof I have here set my hand and seal this 26 day of July 1823 signed sealed and delivered by the testator as his last will & testament in the presence of us the subscribers who have in his presence and at his request subscribed our names as witnesses there to.

I do certify that the above is true copy of the las will and testament of James McMechen deceased which was proven in court at April term 1824 by the oaths of Richart Parriott & Samuel Williamson two of the subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded.
NOTE: The above mis-spelling of his name is as it was recorded...I do not know which is correct but probably McMechen.......P.S.
