REBECCA JANE CALDWELL MARSHALL

      This deed made the eighteenth day of April in the year of our lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty five between John Caldwell Marshall, Robert Marshall, Ezekiel Marshall, Martha Jane Conley and Alexander Marshall children and heirs in law of John Marshall, William Marshall deceased and Rebecca Jane Marshall of the first part and Alexander Caldwell Jr. of the second part. Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars the receipt of which is hers by acknowledged the said parties of the first part do grant unto the said party of the second part the following described property that is to say all their right title, claims and interest in and to the real estate of which Ezekiel Caldwell their Grandfather died seyed also their interest in the same farm which descend to them as heirs of their uncle Alfred Caldwell. The share of the parties of the first part being descended to them in right of their mother, Rebecca Jane Marshall who was the daughter of said Ezekiel Caldwell and said farm consist in about one hundred and sixty three acres of land situated on Wheeling Creek in Marshall County West Virginia on which Alexander Caldwell Jr. now resides. And the said parties of the first part hereby covanant with the said party of the second part that they will warrant generaly the property conveyed.

      Lovay sold her interest to Alexander for 400.00 in 1869

      Sarah heir of law of John Caldwell son of Ezekiel Caldwell sold her interest to Alexander for 100.00 in 1866. She was married to John W. Dier and they lived in Marion County Mozzori

      Ezekiel Caldwell's wife was Clarice Chloe Wetzel, daughter of Martin Wetzel, 1757-1829, and Mary Ann Coffelt, 1762-1835. Ezekielís brother, Alexander, was married to Ruhama Wetzel, also a daughter of Martin. Martin was the older brother of Lewis Wetzel. They are buried at the McCreary Cemetery in Marshall County.
