In the name of God Amen, I Peter Spoon of Marshall County and state of West Virginia, being weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish my last will and testament in manner and form following that as to say.
First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Rebecca Spoon all of my freehold estate to be sole executrix of the same while remaining my widow and to my youngest son Jacob Spoon. I also give and bequeath to my eldest children, John and Catherine Spoon, the sum of one dollar each which said legacies or sum of money I will and order shall be paid to the said respective legatees within six months after my decease. I further give and bequeath to my next six children Susan, Rebecca, Mary, Andrew, Peter and Hannah Spoon, the sum of one dollar each. Lastly as to all the rest and residue and remainder of my personal estate, goods and chattels of what kind or nature so ever I give and bequeath the same to my said beloved wife whom I hereby appoint sole executrix of this my last will and testament as long as she remains my widow as aforesaid and then I will and appoint my youngest son Jacob Spoon as aforesaid whole and sole executor of the same of this my last will and testament hereby removing all former wills by me made in witness where I have here unto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of January Eighteen Hundred and thirty nine.
Sealed and delivered by the above named Peter Spoon to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who have here unto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testator.
