Marshall County Will Book 2 page 85 Samuel Shook Will Whereas I Samuel Shook of the County of Marshall & State of West Virginia being feeble health but of sound mind & memory do hereby make this my last will & testament in the following form & manner as follows: First: That all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid. 2nd: I will and order that my wife Margaret E Shook shall have her maintenance out of the proceeds of my farm so long as she remains my widow. I also order that my said wife be allowed one Horse her choice & one cow. 3rd: I will and order that when my youngest child arrives at the age of twenty one years that my real estate be equally divided between my children. 4th: I will and order that my daughter Martha J. Shook have one cow and lastly I hereby constitute & appoint William Cook Executor of this my last will & testament. Witness my hand and seal this 15th day of April AD 1878. Samuel Shook Attest by: Joseph Turner, Henry Shook West Virginia Marshall County Court April Term April 25th, 1878. A paper writing bearing date April 15th, 1878 purporting to be the last will & testament of Samuel Shook late of this county Dec'd was this day fully proved in open court by the oaths of Joseph Turner & Henry Shook the two Subscribing witnesses thereto & is ordered to be recorded. Wm. Cook the Executor therein named who made oath thereto together with E B Francis his security who Qualified as to his sufficiency extend into & acknowledged their bond in the penal sum of Five Hundred Dollars conditioned and payable as the law directs. Thereupon Certificate is granted the said Wm. Cook for obtaining a probate of said will in due form and on motion of said Wm. Cook it is ordered that Isaac Shepherd, Joseph Turner & E B Francis be & they are appointed appraisors of said Dec'd personal estate they being first duly sworn for that purpose which is ???? in open court.
