Two Violent Deaths Here
Child Killed at Henderson
Mason County's third highway death of 1943 occured here this morning
when Carrie Plants, 7-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs J O Plants
of near Henderson was killed. The child is reported to have run
in front of a car at the Henderson end of the Henderson-Point
Pleasant Bridge. A R Knight of Pomeroy, driver of the car, rushed
the child to the Point Clinic here where she died a short time
later.
State police are investigation.
First highway victim of the year was David T Haggy, killed at
Camp Conley. Second Victum was Harry McDaniel, 4, killed on Route
35.
PLANTS RITES WAIT BROTHER'S ARRIVAL
Funeral arrangements for Carrie Louise Plants, age 7, who was
struck and killed by an automobile yesterday near the Henderson-Point
Pleasant Bridge, are incomplete, pending the arrival of a brother,
Alfred, who is with the United States Navy, and who left Key West
Florida last night enroute home.
The child was a pupil in Room Two at Henderson School and was
an excellent student.
The accident occurred at noon as she was returning to school after
having gone to a store nearby to purchase her lunch. She was rushed
to the clinic here where she died a few hours later.
She was born October 1, 1935.
Survivors, in addition to the brother Alfred, are the parents
and brothers and sisters as follows: James, Margaret, Samuel,
Carol, Dorsel, and Virginia Ann, all at home.
