Ira Amburgey, 74, 2811 Meadowbrook Drive, Point Pleasant, died
this morning in Pleasant Valley Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born Nov. 10, 1903 in Kentucky, to the late William J and
Josephine Collins Amburgey.
He was a retired employee of the Federal Government as a coalmine
inspector in Jasper, Tenn., and a member of the Masonic Lodge
at Jasper, Tenn., Scottish Rite in Charleston and the Bendi Kedem
Shrine of Charleston and the St Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Crase; two sons, Roy L and Ralph
E Amburgey, both of Point Pleasant; one brother, Dewey Amburgey,
New Albany, Ind.; one granddaughter, Kindra Lynn and three grandsons,
Kenneth Lee, Kevin and Steven all of Point Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 1:30 pm in the Wilcoxen
Funeral Home with the Rev. Herman Hayes. Burial will be in Kirkland
Memorial Gardens.

Services Set Wednesday For Eva Mae Bailey
Mrs. Eva Mae Watson Bailey, 66, 2811 Maple Ave., Point Pleasant,
died Monday morning in Pleasant Valley Hospital.
She was born Feb. 11, 1912, Olive Hill, Ky. to the late James
W and Alice Rose Watson.
She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Point
Pleasant, Chapter 75, Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 283 White
Shrine, Gallipolis and a retired social worker with the W.Va.
Department of Welfare with 23 years of service.
Survivors include her husband, James Raymond Bailey; two sisters,
Mrs. Lucy Newsome, Monaville, W.Va., and Mrs. Lena Thackett, Huntington.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 3:30 pm in the Wilcoxen
Funeral Home with the Rev. Herman Hayes officiating. Additional
services will be held Thursday 1 pm in the Maryatta United Baptist
Church, Verdunville, W.Va. The body will be taken to the church
one hour prior to services. The Rev. Glen White will officiate
at these services. The Rev. Glen White will officiate at these
services. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Logan.

Clarence C Blessing, 69, Letart, Route 1, Upper Flats Community,
died at 12:34 am today at Jackson General Hospital at Ripley.
Mr. Blessing, a farmer and former schoolteacher, was active in
local civic and community affairs. He more recently was the manager
of the Farm Credit Association for the area.
He was a member of the Mason County Farm Bureau, the Jr. OUAM
Lodge of New Haven and St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Upper Flats.
Born Dec. 12, 1908 in the Upper Flats Community, son of the late
F T (True) Blessing and Sevilla Roush Blessing.
Survivors include his wife, Wilda; three daughters, Mrs. George
(Evelyn) Weirick, Ravenswood, Dorothy Bartholomew, Arlington,
Va. and Mrs. William (Peggy) Rogers, Vienna, W.Va.; one son, Charles
Blessing, Letart, Route 1; one brother, Russell W Blessing, Parkersburg;
10 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 pm at St. Mark's Lutheran
Church with the Rev. George Weirick officiating. Burial will be
in Boards Cemetery.
Friends may call at Foglesong Funeral Home 2 to 4 pm and 7 to
9 pm on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the
Mason County Heart Fund or St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Thursday at 1:30am at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. An

a daughter of the late Morgan and Evelyn Patterson Casto. Survivors
include a daughter, Rosemary Bright, Columbus; one son Harold
Bright, of Clearwater, FL. and a brother Jess Casto of Columbus.
Graveside service will be held Sunday at 3:00pm at the Pine Grove
Cemetery at Southside by the Rev, Fred McCallister. Arrangements

Former City Woman Dies
Huldah H Calland, 82, a former Point Pleasant resident, died Thursday
morning at her home in Madison, Ind. Following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Calland was born and spent her early life in Point Pleasant
as the only child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob P Heatherington.
She is survived by a daughter, Pat Oyler, with whom she made her
home; and a son, John Calland, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren,
all of the Columbus, O. area.
Private cremation services will be held in Indiana.

Monday afternoon at Pleasant Valley Hospital. Born Jan. 23, 1898,
Chestnut Ridge Rd., to the late Charles Friend and Cora Virginia
Freeman Carpenter, he was a carpenter and steelworker.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Juanita Morgan, Letart,
and Patricia A Backus, Charleston; one son, Ronald E Carpenter,
Coolville, O. one brother, Earl Carpenter, Weirton, W.Va.; seven
grandchildren.

Sylvia Cassidy Dies Saturday
Word has been received here of the death of Sylvia May Huffman
Cassidy, 55, 1140 Magnolia Ave., Akron, O., who died on Saturday
in an Akron hospital.
She was born on May 1, 1923 at Ambrosia to the late Earl Huffman
and Mattie Taylor Huffman who survives.
She was preceded in death by one sister Garnet Lee Keister. She
was also the granddaughter of the late Frank and Myrtie Greenlee
Taylor and the late Riley and Laura Gibbs Huffman.
Survivors include her husband Joe Cassidy; one daughter, Lynda
at home; one son, Burch, Akron, O.; one grandson; two sisters,
Mrs. Berry Mayes, Leon and Mrs. Freda Shorte, Santee, Calif.;
three brothers, Hershel Huffman, Gahanna, O.; Raymond Huffman,
Columbus; and Arthur Huffman, Hilliard, O. There are several nieces,
nephews, cousins and uncle and aunt from Mason County who survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 3 pm in the Hopkins Funeral
Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, O. Burial will be in an Akron Cemetery.

Mrs. Ora Rosetta Coon, 90, 120 Pleasant Street, Point Pleasant,
formerly of Comfort, W.Va. died Tuesday evening in Pleasant Valley
Hospital.
She was a member of the Comfort Presbyterian Church.
She was born Aug. 25, 1888, Comfort, to the late John P and Josephine
Meadows Jarrell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reid
Coon in 1970.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Rogers, Point Pleasant,
with whom she made her home and Mrs. Sylvia Turner, West Lake,
O.; three sons, Siegel Coon and Kermit Coon, Comfort and Rex Coon,
Kimball, W.Va.; one sister, Mrs. Lottie Midkiff and one half-sister,
Mrs. Lillie Midkiff, both of Comfort; 10 grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday 1 pm in the Comfort Presbyterian Church
with the Rev. Mary Elizabeth Goins officiating. Burial will be
in the Coon Cemetery at Comfort.

George Washington Cossin, 72, 2067 Case Road, Columbus, Ohio,
formerly of Mason County, died Sunday afternoon at the home of
his son, Delmer Cossin, Columbus, Ohio.
Born Feb. 22, 1910, Deby, he was the son of the late Julius and
Fannie Hart Cossin.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Helen Mae Backus Cossin who
died in 1965.
He was a retired carpenter.
Surviving are two sons, Delmer and Kenneth Cossin, both of Columbus;
one sister, Dana See, Point Pleasant; one brother, Howard Moody,
Point Pleasant; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

died Monday in a Huntington hospital.
He was born May 27, 1908, in Mason County, a son of the late Clarence
and Daisy Holley Cremeans. He was a member of the Thomas Memorial
Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nowlia Camp Cremeans, 1976.
Survivors include nine daughters, Mrs. Bertha Meadows, Milton,
Rt. 1, Mrs. Delores Reynolds, Huntington, Mrs. Daisy Jenkins,
Greenbottom, Mrs. Alberta Davis, Apple Grove, Mrs. Lola Heaberlin,

Ruth Daugherty, 69, Rt. 2, Bidwell, died in Pleasant Valley
Hospital Sunday morning.
She was born Oct. 31, 1909, Gallipolis, to the late Joseph and
Lula Beatrice Mayberry Miller.
She was a former employee of the Point Pleasant Manufacturing
Company and retired from the Columbus State Hospital in 1971.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Daugherty in 1950.
She was a member of the Addison Baptist Church, Moose Auxiliary
and the CIC Club of Kanauga.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Paul Clayton, Bidwell; Mrs.
David Pulllem, Rochester, Mass.; Mrs. Joseph Teffner, Courtland,
O., and Mrs. Fred Rake, Columbus; one son, Donovan Daugherty,
Yucatia, Calif., two brothers, Ray of Columbus, and Bill of Bidwell;
five sisters, Mrs. Lettie Gavorski, Avon, O.; Mrs. Dorothy Meacher,
Reedsville, N.C.; Mary Margaret Chevalier, Gallipolis, Mrs. Ernest

Word has been received here of the death of Leslie (Buddy) Fridley,
Bloomingburg, Ohio, formerly of Mason County, who died Monday
evening at his home after a long illness.
He was born June 27, 1941, in Mason County, to Don and Bertha
Fridley.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Becky Weatheral
Fridley; one daughter, Lona Fridley at home; three sisters, Priscilla
Ann, Marcella Faye and Faith Rosemary all of Bloomingburg, Ohio;
two brothers, James Allen Fridley, Bloomingburg and Robert Woodrow
Fridley, Choctaw, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held Thursday in Bloomingburg, Ohio.
