Death Claims Raymond Gibson
Raymond Howard Gibson, 82, 114 Highland Ave., Pont Pleasant, died
Saturday at 2:34 am at Pleasant Valley Hospital following a brief
illness.
Born Oct. 23, 1896 in Mason County, Mr. Gibson was the son of
the late John W. Gibson and Cynthia Blaine Gibson. In addition
to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lida Couch
Gibson, on Feb. 8, 1968; a sister, Hattie S. Gibson; and four
brothers, Olin, Sterling, Blaine and Freddie.
Mr. Gibson was a lifelong resident of Mason County, a veteran
of WWI, having served in France, and a member of the Local 132
Operating Engineers at Charleston.
Surviving are three daughter, Mrs. Charles (Mitzi) Taylor and
Mrs. Emerson (Tootie) Wilson, both of Point Pleasant, and Mrs.
James (Gloria) Kines, Cincinnati, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 pm at the Wilcoxen Funeral
Home in Point Pleasant with the Rev. Herman L. Hayes officiating.
Burial will follow in Kirkland Memorial Gardens.

Death Claims Spurgeon Glassburn
Spurgeon Glassburn, 60, Henderson Route, died Wednesday morning
at Pleasant Valley Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Glassburn was a retired coal miner and attended Concord Baptist
Church, Henderson.
Born Jan. 15, 1919 in Tad, W.Va., he was the son of the late I.
C. Glassburn and Mary Susan Hanson Glassburn.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Crawford Glassburn; two sons, David
and Paul Glassburn, both at homes; and seven sisters, Mrs. Bonnie
Crowder, Mrs. Iva Hicks, Mrs. Ina Laird, Mrs. Victoria King, Mrs.
Lena Belcher and Mrs. Rachel Crawford, all of Charleston, and
Mrs. Bertha Ambrose, Orlando, Fla.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 pm at the Concord
Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred McCallister officiating. Burial
will follow in the Concord Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Stevens and Grass Funeral Home in Mulliden,
W.Va. today from 7 -9 pm and at the Stevens Funeral Home in Point
Pleasant Friday from 7-9 pm.
The body will be transferred to the church one hour before services
are scheduled to begin.
