Mrs Clara Compton Ambrose, 81, of 503 Parrish Ave., Point Pleasant, died Wednesday morning in the Holzer Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born Aug 20, 1901, at Sir Johns Run, W.Va. to the late George and Ida Clark Compton.
Her husband, John William Ambrose, preceded her in death in 1956.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Norman L (Betty Lue) Snodgrass, Point Pleasant, with whom she lived; one son, John (Jack) Ambrose Jr., Pomeroy, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Corrinne Ambrose, Pomeroy; and son-in-law, Norman Snodgrass, Point Pleasant; two granddaughters, Janet and Rebecca Ambrose, Pomeroy; one great grandson John Warren Ambrose, Pomeroy.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home with the Rev Ralph Sager Jr., officiating. Burial will be in the Suncrest Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 pm until 9 pm.

Owen "Poss" Anderson, 77, Rt. 2, Racine, Ohio, formerly of Mason and Jackson counties, died Saturday in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Pomeroy, following a short illness.
He was a member of the United Brethern Church and a retired deck hand on a riverboat.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Rhodes Anderson; a son, James, Letart Falls, Ohio; a brother, Theodore, Rock Castle; a sister, Mrs Sylvia Bennett, Kendall, NY; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Tuesday in the Casto Funeral Home chapel at Evans with the Rev. Herman Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Letart Falls Cemetery.

Mrs Anna Austin Anthony, 79, of Largo, Florida, a former resident of Flat Rock community, Point Pleasant, died Sunday evening in the University General Hospital in Seminole, Fla., following a long illness.
She was born April 6, 1903, at Henderson, W.Va., and is the daughter of the late Earl Brady Austin and Virginia Lee Bates.
Her husband Kenneth O Anthony preceded her in death Feb. 6, 1977. Also one daughter, Doris Mae Anthony, preceded her in death July 5, 1973.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs Oran Roush, of Largo, Fla.; one son, Robert L Anthony, Point Pleasant; five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 pm at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with the Rev John H Icenhower officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Oak Cemetery.

Robert L Anthony, 56, 2214 ½ Jefferson Ave, Point Pleasant, died at home Monday.
Born July 28, 1926, in Point Pleasant, he was the son of the late Kenneth O and Anna Austin Anthony.
He was a member of the Boilermakers Local 667 of Charleston for 30 years, served in the Merchant Marines in the US Navy, and was a member of American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant.
In addition to his mother, who died Feb. 6, 1977, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris May Anthony on July 5, 1973.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Bobbie Kay Boles, Point Pleasant, Mrs Martha Leach, Cheshire, Ohio, and Mrs Linda Walters, Johnstown, Ohio; a son, David Lee Anthony, Point Pleasant; a sister, Mrs Oran (Helen) Roush, Largo, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Thursday at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with the Rev George Hoschar officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by Post 23.

Karl L Baker, 23, Route 1, Leon, Mason County, was dead on arrival Sunday at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston after a motorcycle accident on 18 Mile Road in Buffalo.
Born Nov. 30, 1958 in Mason County, he was the son of Lloyd and Emogene Miller Baker. He was graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1977, and was employed by the Riverview Construction Company at the John Amos Plant, in Winfield.
Surviving are his parents, Lloyd and Emogene Baker, Route 1, Leon, one sister, Mrs Marilyn Smith, Jackson, N.J., and one brother, Kenneth Baker, Route 1, Leon.
Funeral services are Wednesday at 2 pm at the Arbuckle Interdenominational Church, Arbuckle, with the Rev Dallas Buck officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery on Baden Road in Leon. Family will be receiving friends after 6 pm today at the Raynes Funeral Home, in Buffalo.

Ronald Keith Barnett, 21, of Jerrico Road, Point Pleasant, was found Saturday morning in Chickamauga Creek, Gallipolis, Ohio.
He graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1979 and was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church. Also, he attended Glenville State College at Glenville, W.Va.
He was born Dec 24 1960 in Gallipolis, Ohio, and was the son of Jack A Barnett and Barbara Coble Barnett of Jerrico Road, Point Pleasant.
Surviving in addition to his parents are, one sister, Kimberly Bibbee, Pliny; one brother, Craig A Barnett, at home; maternal grandparents, Mr and Mrs Leonard Craigo, of Newport Richie, Florida; paternal grandmother, Mrs Nellie Barnett of St Albans and a nephew, Jermey Bibbee of Pliny.
Funeral services were held this morning at 11 am at the Main Street Baptist Church with the Rev Homer C Piercy and Fred Connery officiating. Burial was in the Teays Hill Cemetery in St Albans.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
Active pallbearers were Mark Vaughn, John Bibbee, John Chambers, Marshall Kaiser, Bobby Pyles, and Danny Porter. Honorary pallbearers were Robbie Beller, John Thompson, Greg Thomas, Doug Workman and Ronnie Newell.

Word has been received of the death of Lou S Barnette, 74, formerly of Mason County, of Jan 22 in Pittsfield, Illinois. She was the widow of the late Donald C Barnette.
Funeral services were held Jan 25 in Lummis Funeral Home, West Pittsfield, with the Rev Robert Jenks officiating. Interment was in Pittsfield West Cemetery.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Eunice B Jividen of Point Pleasant, and a nephew, James R Barnette.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Beard; a daughter, Frankie Lou Beard; three sons, Joseph and Robert, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Richard, of Rodney, Ohio; a sister, Mrs Betty Mayes of Point Pleasant; three brothers, Jack W Roach, Point Pleasant, and Richard C Roach and George Elmer Jones, both of Gallipolis, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Roach, in 1977.

Robert E Bell Sr., 70, 920 New York Ave, Deland, Fla., died yesterday in Deland.
Born in March 25, 1912 in Point Pleasant, he was the son of the late Robert P and Katherine Steinbach Bell.
He was a resident of Deland for 33 years and was also a retired map publisher, newspaper and advertising man. He formerly worked for the Point Pleasant Register and Grafton newspapers. More recently, he had published maps of the Ocala National Forest and St John's River, located in central Florida.
Surviving are one son, Robert E Bell Jr., Leona Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Kathy Smith, Deland, Fla.; one brother, Richard S Bell, Keystone Heights, Fla.; one sister, Esther Lough, Vero Beach, Fla. and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 1 pm on Tuesday at the Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel, Deland, Fla. Interment will be at the Oakdale Cemetery, Deland, Fla.

Eunice B Beller, 90, Point Pleasant, died Thursday night at Pleasant Valley Nursing Care Unit.
Born June 11, 1892, Nitro, she was the daughter of the late James Albert and Anna Elizabeth Plunkett.
She was a Mason County school teacher from 1927 to 1964, when she retired. She taught in Racine, Ohio from 1965 to 1969 and at Hazel Valley School in Ohio in 1913. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Women and former teacher of the Ruth Bible Class. She was a member of the NSDAR Col Charles Lewis Chapter.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs George T Wise, Wilmington, Del. And Mrs Robert W Hart, Charleston; one son, William H Burdette, Allentown, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home with Rev Tally Hanna officiating. Burial will be held at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call the funeral home on Monday from 6-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to Trinity United Methodist Memorial Fund or a favorite charity.

She was a retired cook at Point Pleasant High School

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Comer A Bentz Sr., who died in 1968.

Iva E Berridge, 95, Flushing, Ohio, died on March 20 at the Oak View Nursing Home, St Clairsville.
She was born Aug 26, 1886 in Gallipolis Ferry to the late Charles and Eliza Patterson.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in Flushing, Ohio and was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Berridge in 1965.
Surviving her are one two daughters, Frieda Howell of Flushing, Ohio and Lyda Saylor of Route 2, St Clairsville, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the Warren Funeral Home on March 23 at 1 pm with Rev Paul Greenwood officiating. Burial was held at the Lon View Cemetery, New Athens, Ohio.

Anna Biddix, 72, living with her daughter, Mrs Connie Gibbs of Letart, died Thursday in the Holzer Medical Center.
She was born July 13, 1910, at Spruce Pine, N.C., to the late Weldon and Ellen Peenley Buchanan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy M Biddix.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs Minnie Starnes, Gastonia, N.C. and Mrs Carrie Blake, Bessemer City, N.C.; one son, James Biddix, Lincolnton, N.C.; three sisters, Blanche Buff, Eula Monroe and Essis Linenkugle, all of Valdese, N.C.; 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The body will be taken to the Carrothers Funeral Home in Gastonia, N.C., where funeral arrangements will be announced.

He was born Jan 18, 1917, at Southside, W.Va., Mason County. He was the son of the late William Birchfield and Hazel Laudon Birchfield.
He was a member of the Cottage Hill Church at Henderson and spent his entire live in Mason County. He worked several years for the Huntington Chair Corp., in Huntington.

She was formerly of Mason County and left here in 1945. She was a homemaker, member of the Okley Church of Christ in Cincinnati, Loyal Order of Moose and Eastern Star of Cincinnati.
Born July 25, 1915 in Point Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late Asa Roseberry and Nannie Kearns.
Surviving are a husband, Earl Boles; one son, William Jordan, Cincinnati; two stepsons, Albert Bowles, Dayton, Ohio and William Bowles, Cleveland, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Locella, Parkersburg and Joann, Cleveland, Ohio and two grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Lillian; four daughters, Patsy, Anita, Anna and Cissy, all of New Castle, Delaware; a sister, Illene Chapman, Point Pleasant; a half-sister, Betty Kanabel, Jackson, Ohio; a brother, Marshall Bonecutter, Lorraine, Ohio. Also surviving are an aunt, Glendora Grimm, Point Pleasant; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Born Aug 22, 1901, he was the son of the late Samuel Boyles and Martha Jones Boyles. He was retired from the former Sylvania Plant, Point Pleasant, and he spent his entire life in Mason County.
Surviving are his wife Fern Woodard Boyles, Route 2, Point Pleasant; two sisters, Mrs Grace Stewart, Point Pleasant, and Mrs Nellie Bennett, Point Pleasant. He was preceded in death by one brother.

Harry Franklin Bragg Sr., 64, of Stanley, Va., formerly of Gallipolis Ferry, died Jan. 27.
Born Jan. 2, 1918 in Glen Alum, Mingo County, he was the son of the later Abraham L and Laura Smith Bragg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Hopkins Bragg.
He spent most of his adult life in Arlington, Va. and worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Washington, D.C. as an electronic equipment maintenance technician.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Southern Pacific area. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, WWII Victory Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs Joyce Richards of Manassas; one son, Harry Jr. of Falls Church, Va.; five grandchildren; his wife, Stella Short Bragg of Stanley, Va.; four step-children, Thomas Short Jr. of Haymarket, Mrs Louise McAllister of Shenandoah, and Mrs Nancy Painter of Stanley; five sisters, Mrs Willie Weethee and Mrs Janyce Scott of Winter Haven, Fla.; Mrs Myrtle Carter and Mrs Nina Lewis of Haines City, Fla. and Mrs Janey Thabet of Point Pleasant; and five brothers, Arnold and John of Winter Haven, Fla., Morris and Robert of Point Pleasant, and Ralph of Madison.
He is interred in the Nation Memorial Park, Falls Church, Va.

Earl F Broadwater, 80, formerly of Baron, Maryland, but residing with his son, daughter-in-law and children, Richard, Karen and Melissa, Leslee and Amanda, Rt. 2, Letart, W.Va., died yesterday in Mercer Nursing Home, Clifton.
He was born Nov 22, 1901, to the late Lawrence and Elzaida Warick Broadwater.
He was retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co, from Akron, Ohio, after 44 years and also served in the US Army during World War I.
Other survivors includes his wife, Pearl Broadwater and a daughter, Aloha P South, both of Vienna, Va.; a son Dennis F Broadwater, Tallmadge, Ohio; a sister, Mrs Mae Whitman, Lonaconing, Maryland, a sister-in-law, Mrs Nettie Broadwater, Barton, Maryland; four other grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Foglesong Funeral Home on Sunday at 1:30 pm with the Rev Joe Hammack officiating. Burial will follow in the Hoffman Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Retha A Howell Brooks; two daughters, Mrs Dorothy E McDermott, Mt Also, and Mrs Hazel R Smith, New Haven; two sons, Harry W, of Letart, and Charles Melvin, of Genoa, Illinois; a sister, Mrs Tribly Hart, New Haven; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

He was born April 23, 1898, in Boyd County, Kentucky.
His wife, Sarah Elizabeth Brown, preceded him in death in 1965. A daughter, Betty Ruth, and a son, Billie Paul, also preceded him in death.
He was a retired Control Operator for power plants.

Born Dec 24, 1893, Apple Grove, she was the daughter of the late Jimmie and Marcella Duncan.
She was a member of the Millstone Church, Gallipolis Ferry.
Her husband Gideon Brown, preceded her in death on April 13, 1976.

Leon Man Dies In Sunday Car Accident

A Leon man was killed yesterday in a single-car wreck at the sharp curve on Routes 2 and 62 near Krodel Park, according to the Point Pleasant Police Department.
Thomas Gregory Bush, 25, Route w, died in the mishap after his car ran straight off the curve and smashed into a wooden (sic) area beside the road.
The accident occurred sometime after 2 am on Sunday, but the totaled car was not discovered until 2 pm yesterday, said city police.
Passing motorists, Mr and Mrs Henry Rollins, Route 2, Leon, spotted the vehicle and then notified Point Pleasant Police Department.
According to Police Chief Jim Gaskins, Bush was traveling east on Routes 2 and 62 in his Ford Fairlane. As the car approached the curve, it went off the right side, busted through guard rails and then smashed into trees. The right side of the vehicle was town off in the process. From the time of the accident to its discovery, Gaskins said it was fairly impossible to see the vehicle hidden in the trees.
Point Pleasant EMS transferred the body to the state medical examiner's office in Charleston. Rollins Gulf Service, Leon, towed the vehicle away.
Bush, born Sept 11, 1957 in Sidney, Ohio, is survived by his parents, Charles H and Mary June Valentine Bush, Leon. Also surviving are two sisters, Penny Dunn, Clarksville, Tenn. and April Johannesen, Baltimore, Md.; three brothers, David Bush, Gallipolis Ferry, Stephen Bush, Gallipolis, Ohio and Gary Todd Bush, St Charles, Mo. and a maternal grandmother, Frieda Valentine, Sidney, Ohio.
The deceased was a 1976 graduate of Point Pleasant High School.
Graveside rites will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Leon with Rev Lawrence Gray officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcoxen Funeral Home. There will be no visiting hours.

He was retired employee of the Kaiser Aluminum Company, a member of the United Steelworkers of America, Local 5568, and American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant. He was also a member of Minturn Lodge No 19 AF&AM, the Franklin Commandry, Chapter 7 RAM and the Pat Wilson Shrine Club, all of Point Pleasant, and the Beni Kedem Temple of Charleston.

Lisa Casto Dies of Crash Injuries

The accident on Rt. 62 north of Point Pleasant a week ago, in which two teenagers were killed, has claimed the life of a third victim.
Lisa Casto, 15, Point Pleasant, died at Charleston General Hospital at approximately 11 pm Thursday from injuries sustained in the accident, according to a hospital spokesperson. Casto, who underwent surgery for head injuries at Pleasant Valley Hospital immediately following the accident, which occurred at 12:18 pm on Oct 8, was transported that evening to Charleston General, where she remained in the intensive care unit until the time of her death.
Kriss Thomas, 16, and Harold Matheny, 14, both of Leon, were pronounced dead on arrival at PVH following the accident.
Ricky Wernsing, 12, Point Pleasant, another passenger in the vehicle driven by Miss Casto's brother, Harmon, was released from ICU yesterday. He remains hospitalized at Pleasant Valley and is listed in stable condition recovering from a fractured pelvis. Harmon Casto, 17, was also injured in the crash, was released from PVH earlier this week.
The accident is still under investigation of the West Virginia State Police.
Lisa Casto was born Oct 18, 1967, the daughter of Roy and Janet Bonecutter Casto, 1109 Hogg St.

He was born Aug 9, 1930 at Weston, W.V. He is the son of John A Caynor of Point Pleasant and Teresa Woodell Caynor of Point Pleasant.
He was a captain on the river for the Ohio Barge Line for 26 years, a member of the UOA Union No. 54 of St Louis, Missouri. He was a veteran of WWII who served in the US Army, and a graduate of Point Pleasant High School.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Armintha Thomas McElroy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Circle; two sons, Wesley and Harry Circle, two brothers and three sisters.
She was active in the Meigs County Senior Citizen Program.

Born March 9, 1924, Gallipolis, Ohio, he was the son of the late Effie Smiley Clendenin.
He was formerly of Ravenswood and a member of the Ravenswood First United Methodist Church. He was an operational supervisor for West Virginia C&P Telephone Company with 36 years of service and also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Point Pleasant Mintern Lodge 19 AFM, Ben Kedem Shrine Temple, Charleston and Wheeling Chamber of Commerce. He was past president of the Ravenswood Lion's Club, former city councilman of Ravenswood, fund raiser for the Jackson County Cancer Fund, veteran of World War II, US Army and a sportsman.

He was a medical doctor and radiologist at Pleasant Valley Hospital, a member of the West Virginia Medical Society, a graduate of Campbellsville High School and University of Louisville Medical School, served in the US Army and US Air Force as a captain and pilot during World War II and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, Point Pleasant.
Born Aug 15, 1921, he was the son of the late Alexander Stewart and Mattie Louis Cole.

He was born Sept 2, 1956, in Gallipolis, Ohio.
He worked on construction and was a farmer. He was a member of the Mason United Methodist Church and graduated from Wahama High School in 1974. He was also a former member of the ROTC at the Embry Iddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., and a member of the Teamsters Union.
Surviving are one son, Jerod Keith Cook, Pomeroy, Ohio. Surviving are his wife, Lola Stewart Dudding; a daughter, Judith Ann Corbin, Point Pleasant; a sister, Mrs Maxine Nibert, Letart; and a brother, George Axtell Dudding, Leon.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Goethals Dudding, in 1980.

Mary Francis Magdelene Dudding, 62, Mason, died Saturday morning at Pleasant Valley Hospital.
She was born Feb 28, 1920 in Mason to Robert L and Minnie F (Plunkett) Dudding.
The deceased was a member of Mason United Methodist Church and the Sunshine Class. She also belonged to the Rhododendron Homemakers Club.
Surviving her are one brother, Robert P Dudding, Mason, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis, Evert and David Dudding and three sisters, Pearl, Margaret and Alma.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 pm at the Fogelsong Funeral Home. Revs Bennie Stevens and Donald Kelley will officiate and burial will be held at Graham Cemetery, Letart.

Charles P Duncan, 80, of Henderson, died Thursday evening in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio, following a long illness.
He was born March 25, 1902 in Mason County. He is the son of the late Albert Duncan and Susan Gardner Duncan.
He was a member of the Concord Baptist Church where he was a Church Deacon and a Sunday School Superintendent.
He worked at the former Marietta Manufacturing Company of Point Pleasant and the Mason Furniture Company of Point Pleasant. He was also a carpenter and a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Aurora Roach Duncan of Henderson; one daughter, Mrs Alijean Duncan Bechtle, Point Pleasant; two sons, Wayne Duncan and Charles Ray Duncan, both of Henderson; two brothers, Gilbert Duncan, Point Pleasant and Mose Duncan, Gallipolis Ferry; two grandchildren, Pamela Bechtle, Point Pleasant and Jeff Duncan, St Petersburg, Fla.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 pm at the Concord Baptist Church with the Rev Fred McCallister officiating. Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery.

H Leroy (Roy) Edwards, 86, Toledo, Ohio, formerly of West Columbia, died Monday evening at St Vincent Hospital in Toledo. He had lived at the Hillcrest Nursing Center in Waterville, Ohio, for the past year.
He was employed by the New York Central Railroad for 55 years and retired in 1967.
Surviving are a sister, Lucy Johnson, West Columbia and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Naida Gosney Edwards, in 1967.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Thursday at the Craig Funeral Home on East Broadway in Toledo.

Ronceford Clay Escue, 72, 2205 Tate Drive, Charleston, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Saturday at 10:30 pm in the Charleston Area Medical Center following a long illness.
Born Jan 22, 1910, at Garrietts Bend in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Claude Ellis Escue and Callie T Burgess Escue.
He was retired from the Union Carbide Plant at South Charleston with 30 years service. He attended the Baptist Church.
His wife, Opal Virginia Donahue Escue preceded him in death in 1970. Also preceding him in death were a son, James William (Billy) Escue, in 1981, one sister and two brothers.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs Judy Jones, Sissonville, Mrs Naomi Knott, Point Pleasant, Mrs Emma McClanahan, Point Pleasant, Mrs April Putney, Point Pleasant, and Miss Lisa Escue, Point Pleasant; three sons, Jess Allan, Charleston, Wilson Lee, Charleston, and Claude, Bay St Louis, Mississippi; five brothers Curtis, Columbus, Ohio, Nye, Athens, Ohio, Freer, Teays Valley, Glen, Point Pleasant, and Minor, Gallipolis Ferry; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 pm at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with the Rev Carl Preece officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Letart.

May E Estep, 82, Gallipolis Ferry, died Sunday afternoon at Pleasant Valley Hospital following a short illness.
Born Aug 16, 1900, in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of the late Albert Henderson and Flora K Fine Henderson.
She attended the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Point Pleasant and was a resident of Mason County for 25 years.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Albert A Barringer and second husband, Earl Estep, who died in 1969.
Surviving are three sons, Eugene Barringer, Gallipolis Ferry, Wesley B Barringer, Orlando, Fla. and Charles E Barringer of Baltimore, Md.; one stepdaughter, Erma Lee Sandifer, Lynchburg, Va.; five stepsons, Robert M Estep, St Louis, Bernard Estep, Scott Depot, Keith H Estep, St Albans and Kenneth Estep, Nitro; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am at Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev William Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Mr Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg. Friends may call between 7-9 on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Belva Mae Farley, Well-Known County Resident, Dies

Mrs Belva Mae Farley, of New Haven and formerly of Point Pleasant, died early Tuesday morning in the Holzer Medical Center.
Born Feb 16, 1908, in Mason, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret M Elias.
She is survived by her husband, Jehu H Farley; one daughter, Mrs Bill (Lona) Howard, New Haven; two grandchildren, Barbara LeMasters and Michael Howard, both of Columbus, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two step-daughters, Patricia Banks, Columbus, Ohio and Ruth Gilkey, of Florida; three sister, Mrs Clara Burris and Mrs Maxine Grimm, both of New Haven and Mrs Emogene Crow of Mason; and several step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Elias, and two brothers, Joseph and Henry Elias.
Mrs Farley was a member of the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church and attended the St Paul Lutheran Church of New Haven.
She served three terms as president of the Point Pleasant Woman's Club and was president of the West Virginia President's Club of West Virginia Federation Woman's Club at one time.
She also served one term as the secretary of the Southwestern District, West Virginia Federation Woman's Club.
She was the managing director of the Mason County Chamber of Commerce for 10 years and an honorary life member of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Executives.
She was a member of the Central Ohio Valley Industrial Council and served on the Point Pleasant City Council, a member of the Seven Valley's Travel Council, was the associate director of the Governors Board of Industrial Development for some time and coordinated the Mason County Fair Queen Contest for ten years also.
Mrs Farley was listed in the "Personalities of the South", and in 1965 was invited to Washington, DC by the United States Chamber of Commerce to give a talk to the Community Management Seminar.
This was later printed and sold by the United States Chamber of Commerce Publication called "Community Development."
She wrote a weekly column for the Point Pleasant Register entitled, "May We Point Out" for many years, and also did a talk show on WJEH-Radio.
She was made a Kentucky Colonel in 1969, was a member of the Bicentennial Association, served on the Board of Directors for the Tri-County Community Concert Association and was employed as the former manager of O J Morrisons.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 pm at the Foglesong Funeral Home in Mason with the Rev George Weirick officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland Memorial Gardens.

He was a member of the Mount Union United Methodist Church, Pliny and a retired carpenter and farmer.
He was born June 8, 1896, Crown City, Ohio, and was the son of the late Marion and Selemma Beaver.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Whitt Fellure; two sons, Hoy Fellure, Fraziers Bottom and Lester Fellure, Eleanor; four daughters, Mrs Zeda Fergerson, Mrs Hettie Hammond and Mrs Emma Hammond, all of Pliny and Mrs Avaline Chapman, Apple Grove; one brother, Oval Fellure, Bellville, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Born Jan 18, 1919, in Mason County, son of the late Melvin J Fetty and Virgie M Burns Fetty, who survives in Huntington, he was a retired Gallia County Local Schools employee, and worked for several years at the M&G Transport Services. A World War II and Korean War Army veteran, he was a member of VFW Post 4464, was a member of the Chesapeake Church of Christ, and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Also surviving are his wife, Grace Lee Leonard Fetty; four daughters, Marsha Buchanan, Columbus, Ohio, Elizabeth Fetty, at home, Judy Mitchell, Taylor, Mich., and Virginia Booth, Proctorville, Ohio; four sons, Chris, at home, Thurman of Taylor, Mich., Richard of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Timothy of Columbus, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; a sister, Minnie Johnson of Huntington; and a brother, Joseph of Huntington.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday at the Willis Funeral Home with Minister George Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.

Carroll William Fisher, 66, Rt. 1, Apple Grove, died this morning in Pleasant Valley Hospital following a short illness.
Born March 26, 1915, at Milton, he was the son of the late William A and Clara Sowards Fisher.
He was a retired employee of the GSA in Point Pleasant, a veteran of World War II, a member of Beale United Methodist Church, a member of Minturn Lodge No. 19, Franklin Commandry 17, and the RAM, and a member of the American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Smith Fisher; four sisters, Lorena LaMunwin, Apple Grove, Mrs Doris Bayes, Camdenton, Missouri, Mary Fisher, Phoenix, Arizona, and Mrs Edna Morrison of Milton; four brothers, Herman of Ashton, Herbert of Lesage, Harvey of Carroll, Ohio, and Harold of Letart; and a step-brother, Richard Sponagule, Culloden; and several nieces and nephews including a niece, Judy Perry, who made her home with the Fishers for several years.
Funeral services will be held at the Beale Chapel United Methodist Church at 11 am Monday with the Rev Kenneth Nolan and Rev Mike Hall Officiating. Burial will follow in Beale Chapel Cemetery.
Masonic graveside rites will be conducted.

He was project coordinating engineer for the Union Carbide Plant at Institute, a graduate of the University of Kentucky, a member of the West Virginia Society of Professional Engineers, a World War II veteran, and a member of the American Legion and VFW.
Surviving are his wife, Delores; a daughter, Ginger Fowlkes, Charleston; two sons, Ronald, Nitro, and Lyndon, Charleston; a step-daughter, Mrs Brenda Holston, Belle; a step-son, Stephen Wiley, Charleston; parents, Mr and Mrs Samuel E Fowlkes Sr., St Albans; two sisters, Mrs Anderee Mullins, Tornado, and Mrs Yvonne Hensley, St Albans; and two step-grandchildren.

Mrs Margaret S Francis, 74, __ Windsor Court, Point Pleasant, died Sunday morning in the Holzer Medical Center.
Born June 28, 1907, at Ashton, she was the daughter of the late Walter E and Anna Smith Sturgeon.
She was a retired Mason County school teacher with 42 years service, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a graduate of Point Pleasant High School class of 1927, a graduate of Morris Harvey College and received her master's degree from Marshall University. She was also a member of the Mason County Retired Teachers Association and the Order of the Eastern Star, Point Pleasant Chapter 75.
Her Husband was the late Carl E Francis who died April 15, 1979.
She is survived by one daughter Mrs Pete (Phyllis) Young; one sister, Mrs Marie Parr, St Albans; two brothers, W B Sturgeon, Point Pleasant, and her twin brother, Myron Sturgeon, South Charleston; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday in the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home in Point Pleasant with the Rev Tally Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland Memorial Gardens.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Martha Circle of United Methodist Women, the Point Pleasant Chapter No 75 Order of Eastern Star, the Past Matron's Club and the Point Pleasant Women's Club.
She is survived by three daughters, Miss Kathryn Fruth and Mrs Louis (Henrietta) Rossi, both of Point Pleasant, and Mrs Walter (Emogene) Crooks, of Middleport, Ohio; one son, Jack E Fruth, of Point Pleasant; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday at the Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev Tally Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Memorial Gardens.
