Charles Arthur Burdette, 61, of Huntington and Leon, died Thursday morning at his home in Huntington.
Born Nov. 15, 1924, in Leon, he was the son of the late Arthur B and Florence Louise Schul Burdette.
He was the division stores and transportation supervisor for the Huntington Division of Appalachian Power Company, a member of Leon Baptist Church and a church moderator. He was a veteran of the US Army-Air Force during World War II, a member of the Masonic Lodge at Buffalo, a trustee of Leon Cemetery and a graduate of Point Pleasant High School Class of 1941.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita King Burdette; one son, Charles A. "Laddie" Burdette Jr., Leon; five brothers, Stanton "Zeke" and Wayne Burdette, both of Point Pleasant, and Ronald, Curtis and John Bill Burdette, all of Leon.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday at Leon Baptist Church with the Rev. James K Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Leon Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home from 3 to 9 pm Friday. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.

Workman, Mary Childers

Mary Childers Workman, 78, Point Pleasant, died Monday afternoon at Holzer Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 3, 1907 at Louisa, Ky. To the late Leonard and Corilda Childers.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Workman in 1977, one sister and one brother.
She was a member of the Faith Gospel Church in Gallipolis Ferry.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Leo Joyce Bush of Gallipolis Ferry; two sons, Robert Lee Workman of Alpha N.J., and William Paul Workman of Copperas Cove, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Osha Collier of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Mrs. Leona Cullum of New Boston, Ohio, and Mrs. Ethel Mae Sammons of New Boston, Ohio; one brother, Clarence Childers of Portsmouth, Ohio; nine children and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Sanders and the Rev. Charles McDonald officiating.
Burial will follow in the Beale Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home after 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
