Wanda Sheppard, 80, of Point Pleasant, died Friday, October 16,
1992, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.
Born September 9, 1912 in Parkersburg, she was the daughter of
the late Clarence and Eva (Dotson) Dotson. She was a member of
the Henderson Church of Christ.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles E Sheppard;
a sister and a brother.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Nott of Point Pleasant
and Nancy Nott Armbruster of Cleveland, OK; a son, Robert D Sheppard
of Riverview, FL; a stepdaughter, Sonia Price of Point Pleasant;
seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Service will be Monday, October 19, at 2 pm at the Henderson Church
of Christ with Evangelist Sam Gwinn officiating. Burial will be
in Kirkland Memorial Gardens.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 7-9 pm at the Wilcoxen Funeral
Home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior
to service.
Pallbearers will be Donald E Nott, David A Nott, Charles J Sheppard,
Fredrick Sheppard, Jason C Nott and Jamie D Stewart. Honorary
pallbearer will be Reece Nott.

Anna Louise Sherman, 75, of Mason, died Sunday, July 26, 1992,
at Pleasant Valley Hospital.
Born August 19, 1916 in Mason, she was a daughter of the late
Sardine L and Sadie (Young) Sherman. She was a former secretary
at Marietta Manufacturing and also worked at the Mason Furniture
Company.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois S Hennosy.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 29, at 10 am at
Adamsville Cemetery with Rev. Bennie Stevens officiating. Burial
will be in Adamsville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Foglesong Funeral Home on Tuesday from
6-8 pm.

Samuel Eliel Steadman, infant son of Charles William, Jr. and
Lori (Sayre) Steadman, Spotsylvania, Va., died at his home Thursday,
July 23, 1992.
He was born Monday, July 20, 1992.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his maternal grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Allen Sayre of Point Pleasant, paternal grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. William Steadman, Sr. of St. Albans, maternal great-grandmother,
Mrs. Mildred McGuffin of Point Pleasant, paternal great-grandmother,
Mrs. Elizabeth Steadman of Charleston, paternal great-grandmother,
Rose Dixon of St. Albans, and maternal great-grandparents, Richard
and Stella Sayre of Evans.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, 11 am at the Lone
Oak Cemetery, Point Pleasant, with the Rev. Terry Hogue officiating.

Marie Crawford Taylor, 80, of Gallipolis, died Friday, June 5,
1992.
She was born August 30, 1922, in Hogsett, W.Va., the daughter
of the late William and Nancy Jenkins Crawford.
She was a member of the Wyoma Pentacostal Church in Gallipolis
Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Ted Gordon, five sisters, and one brother.
Survivors include one son, James Gordon of Gallipolis; one brother,
Charles Crawford of Gallipolis Ferry; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, 1:30pm, at the Wilcoxen
Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the *Vion Baptist Cemetery.

Erma L Turnbull, 81, Mason, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1992
at Pleasant Valley Hospital.
She was born in Hartford, W.Va., a daughter of the late Marcellus
and Lula Roush Howell. She was a homemaker and a member of the
Christian Science Church where she was a former Sunday school
teacher. She was a member of the Mason County American Association
of Retired Persons, the Southwestern Community Action of Huntington,
Mason County Action and the West Virginia Silver Hair Legislature.
She is survived by a niece, Isabelle Powell, Middleport; two nephews,
Glenn Wallace, Cape Coral, Fla., and Jack Wallace, Maples, Fla.;
a great-niece, Ruth Ann Powell; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E Turnbull, and
two sisters, Ruth Wallace and Chloe Fick.
Services will be Friday, Oct. 23, at Fisher Funeral Home in Middleport.
Burial will be in Kirkland Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services on Friday.

Granvel Jack Wamsley, 68, of Middleport, Ohio died Tuesday, October
20, 1992, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio.
Born May 2, 1924 in Mason County, he was a son of the late Henry
and Esta Wamsley. He was a member of the College Hill Church,
Middleport, Masonic Lodge 363, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local
521 of Huntington and was a retired construction worker.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Delphia Wamsley.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Wamsley of Middleport; two
daughters, Dixie Leonard of Columbus and Margie Skidmore of Middleport;
three sons, Jackie Wamsley, Roger Wamsley and Samuel Wamsley,
all of Middleport; a step-brother, Richard Daylong of Columbus;
and four grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23,
at 11 am at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Rev. Thermon Durham
officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Henderson.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 pm Thursday. Masonic
rites will be performed at 7:30 pm.

Longtime owner and operator of Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Loraine
Lee Wilcoxen, 63, of Point Pleasant, died Tuesday December 29,1992,
at his home.
Born May 3, 1929, he was the son of Maryland Pullin Wilcoxen and
the late Morgan Theodore Wilcoxen. He was a Graduate of Point
Pleasant High School of 1948 and a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute
of Mortuary Science of 1951.
He is preceded in death by one grandson, Roger Reed McKinney II
and one sister Lula Mae Daugherty. Survivors are His wife Mary
Eads Wilcoxen, and his mother Maryland Wilcoxen; four daughters
and son-in-law, Anna & David Morris of Carterville, Ill. Winona
& Roger McKinney of Point Pleasant, Barbara & Paul Casto
of Greer, SC and Tina & Barry Barnette of Greenville, SC and

Bessie Wilhelm, 104, of Gallipolis, OH, formerly of Point Pleasant,
died Friday, October 16, 1992 at Pine Crest Care Center.
She was born March 31, 1888 in Point Pleasant, a daughter of the
late Wiley and Molly Smith.
A member of the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church and the Eastern
Star and Daughters of the American Revolution, she began the first
library in mason Count, called the "Lending Library,"
in 1910. A secretary for Varion Coal Co., she was allowed to use
her office to loan out the 50 books that she herself had purchased.
At the age of 77, she retired from Carolina Lumber in Point Pleasant
after 23 years of employment there. She also worked for the O
J Morrison Store and Clark Sheets Co.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wilhelm, in
1938; and by an infant sister, Jessie.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, 2 pm, at the Suncrest
Cemetery with the Rev. Louis A Hussell officiating. Burial will
follow. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Crow-Hussell Funeral
Home.

Mrs. Anna S Williamson, 90, of Huntington, died Saturday, June
6, 1992, in St. Mary's Hospital.
Born Nov. 25, 1901, in Ashton, she was a daughter of the late
James Albert and Jenny Frances (Meadows) Taylor.
A member of the Apostolic Life Cathedral, Huntington, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Isaac L Williamson, and five
brothers.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Minnie Kitchen and Mrs. Frances
Turley, both of Huntington, Mrs. Genevieve Cardwell, Proctorville,
Ohio, Mrs. Judith Fouts of Martinsville, Ind.; four sons, Clarence,
Carl, Joe and William, all of Huntington; two sisters, Edith Holley
of Ona, Elizabeth Wray of Ashton; three brothers, John and Junior
Taylor, both of Point Pleasant, David Taylor of Huntington; 39
grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday, 2 pm, at the Apostolic Life Cathedral
with the Rev. Greene Kitchen, Rev. Edwin S Harper and Rev. Judy
Erwin officiating. Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery, Miller,
Ohio.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm today (Monday) at the Chapman
Mortuary, Huntington. The body will be taken to the church one
hour prior to the service.

Roy Stanley Williamson, 70, of Southside, died Monday, July 6,
1992.
Born December 30, 1921, at Southside, he was the son of the late
Everett and Hazel Wears Williamson.
A Mason County bus operator for 15 years, he also worked Pioneer
Construction in Huntington and was retired from Zinn Coal Co.
in 1987. He was also a trustee of the Hambrick Church in Southside.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Myers Williamson of Southside;
two daughters, Sharon D Donohue of Point Pleasant, and Mrs. Bill
(Betty Jo) Simpkins, also of Point Pleasant; one son, Stanley
L. (Dale) Williamson of Southside; one sister, Helen Fisher of
Point Pleasant; one brother, Herbert "Tucker" Williamson
of Winfield, W.Va.; three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 1:30 pm, at the Wilcoxen
Funeral Home, with the Rev. Herb Capehart officiating. Burial
will follow in the Concord Cemetery, Henderson.

Alma Mae (Knowles) Withrow, 86, of Leon, died Sunday, Aug. 23,
1992, in the Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, following a short
illness.
Born March 28, 1906, in Williamson, W.Va., she was a daughter
of the late Rev. James S and Rosa Belle (Hart) Knowles.
A registered nurse, having served 43 years in area hospitals and
as a private duty nurse, she was a graduate of the Mountain State
School of Nursing, and a member of the Mountain State Alumni Nursing
Association. She was also a Mason County Belle in 1986, a Democrat
executive committee member for eight years in Mason County, member
of the First Church of the Nazarene, Charleston, Creston Ladies
Aid, and attended Creston United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Darlington and Vernon Lee, both
of Cross Lanes; six daughters, Elnor Ruth Holstein, Cross Lanes,
Laura Belle Casto, Betty Frances Sayre, Helen Mae Rogers, all
of Leon, Mary Margaret Lanham of St. Albans, and Lois Virginia
Baker of Cottageville; a brother, James Knowles, Jr. of Charleston;
three sisters, Georgia McDaniels of Charleston, Marjorie Burford
of Dunbar, Josephine Odell of Torrence, Calif.; 29 grandchildren,
56 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Vernon "Jack"
Withrow, a son, James Samuel, four brothers and one sister.
The funeral will be Wednesday, 1 pm, at the Creston United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Harold Landers, Rev. John Icenhower, and
Rev. Keith Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Creston Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Casto Funeral Home in Evans Monday evening,
7 to 9 pm, and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. There will also
be calling hours one hour prior to the service at the church.

Hazel V Wright, 100, of Point Pleasant, died Saturday, June 6,
1992, following a long illness.
She was born October 27, 1891, in Rutland, OH, the daughter of
the late Cash and Florence VanZant.
For the last several months, she has been residing in Caren Haven
of Point Pleasant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters.
Survivors include one son, David Wright of Point Pleasant; six
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, 1:30 pm, at the Langsville
Christian Church, Langsville, OH, with the Rev. Robert Messer
officiating. Burial will follow in the Miles Cemetery, Rutland.

Hallie M Zerkle, 92, of Middleport, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1992,
at Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Born on July 28, 1900 in Mason County, W.Va., she was the daughter
of the late Millard F and Ida Mae Van Matre Zerkle.
She was employed with the Burson Hardware Store in Pomeroy and
also with the Briffith Michael Dry Goods Store in Middleport for
several years. She retired from the Zerkle Trucking Co. in 1974.
She was a member of the Heath United Methodist Church in Middleport,
Evangeline Chapter 172, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Middleport
Garden Club.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother,
John W Zerkle, and an infant sister. She is survived by a sister,
Nellie Zerkle, Middleport and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 pm at the Fisher Funeral
Home in Middleport with the Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Burial
will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral
home on Friday 2 to 9 pm.
