Obituaries
John Cartmill Allinder, 73, of St. Albans, W.Va., died in his
sleep of an apparent heart attack, Saturday afternoon, July 10,
2004. He was a retired teacher of Kanawha County Schools (Lincoln
Junior High and St. Albans Junior High), a former employee of
Center Hardware, and most recently a math tutor in the Learning
Center at the University of Charleston.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Arthur and Charlotte
Catherine Allinder.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Ruth Ford Allinder; a brother,
Joe A Allinder II, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Patsy
Catherine Allinder of St. Albans; two daughters and a son-in-law,
Mary and Robin Kessinger, and Jenny Allinder, all of St. Albans;
and three sons and two daughters-in-law, Peter F and Sarah Miller
Allinder of Point Pleasant, W.Va., Chris and Charlene Bailes of
South Charleston, W.Va., and Robert E Blake of Houston, Texas.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Army Sgt. John R "Robbie"
Kessinger III and Air Force Staff Sgt Luke A Kessinger, sons of
Mary and Robin; Nicholas Allinder Freeman, son of Jenny: John
Clairmont Allinder, Rachel Catherine Allinder and Hannah Elizabeth
Allinder, children of Pete and Sarah; Blake and Austin Bailes;
sons of Chris and Charlene; and Robbie, Lacey and Caitlyn Blake,
children of Robbie Blake.
John is remembered for his goodness, intelligence and generosity.
At this time, his family draws their deepest strength and comfort
from the fact that as husband, brother, daddy and grandpa. John
was a faithful child of God.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm, Monday, July 12, 2004, at Casdorph
and Curry Funeral Home in St. Albans. Funeral service will be
1 pm Tuesday, at the Marlaing Church of Christ in St. Albans,
with ministers Darrell Bledsoe and Bob Kessinger officiating.
Burial and graveside service will follow at the New Lone Oak Cemetery
in Point Pleasant. Friends accompanying the family to Point Pleasant
are welcome to attend a gathering, which will follow, at the Sand
Hill Road Church of Christ in Point Pleasant

James Thurman Bailey, 95, resident of Upper Arlington, Ohio, for
47 years, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Crowne Pointe Care
Center.
He was a member of the Northwest United Methodist Church, Past
Master and 50-year member of South Gate-Potter Lodge No. 782,
F&AM, and Scottish Rite and Beacon Chapter No. 533 OES, formerly
Southern Way.
He served in the US Army in World War II as a sergeant in the
69th Chemical Company. He was retired from Columbus Auto Parts
after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Norine; patents,
James and Martha Bailey; sisters, Jewell Cottrell and Grey Sargent;
and brothers, Tracy, Jake, Thomas and Paul Bailey.
He is survived by a nephew, Arnel "Arnie" and wife Vikki
Jividen, and their daughter, Kristen Jividen, all of Dublin, Ohio;
nieces, Glenda Smith and her children, Susan Marie and Bruce Smith,
Barbara Ann and her husband, Edward Jenkins and their sons, JR
and Landon Jenkins; a sister, Armour Bailey; and many other nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
Jim "Thurman" was a kind, generous, loving husband,
brother and uncle, and will be deeply missed by those who knew
and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Thursday, June
17, 2004, at the Graumlich and Son Funeral Home, 1351 S High St.,
Columbus, Ohio. Services will be 11 am Friday, June 18, 2004 at
Northwest United Methodist Church, 5200 Riverside Drive, Columbus,
Ohio 43220, with the Rev Bill Hunter and the Rev Harold Davidson
officiating. Interment will be in the Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
Masonic services will be conducted in the funeral home at 7:30
pm Thursday.

Jan. 14, 2004, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 16, 1953, in Mason County, W. Va., daughter
of the late Floyd Ekers, and Mary Crist Ekers, who survives.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a special friend,
Larry Carper of Point Pleasant; a son, Keven Barker of Ashton,
W. Va.; a daughter, Sandra Barker of Rio Grande, Ohio; three grandchildren;
two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathorine and Teddy Cobb of Ashton,

Gladys N Bell, 76, of Point Pleasant, W.Va., died Friday, June
11, 2004, in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Point Pleasant.
She was born June 4, 1928, in La Jose, Pa., to the late Sherman
and Mary Westover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister,
Katherine Colney; a brother, Carl Westover; and infant children
Paul Wesley Bell and Melodie Sue Bell.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward W Bell of Point
Pleasant; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward A and Melodie Bell
of West Columbia, W.Va.; a sister, Velma Kitchen of Campbell,
N.Y.; a brother, Glen Westover of Canton, Ohio; and grandsons,
Brandon and Justin Bell.
Graveside services are 2 pm today, Saturday, June 12, 2004, at
the Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant.

She was born April 5, 1924, in Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., daughter

Lake.

He was born April 18, 1923, in Southside, son of the late Charles

He is survived by his wife, Nancy E Birchfield of Point Pleasant,

daughter of the late James and Inez (Ankrum) Scarberry.
She is survived by three daughters and on son-in-law, Ruby Arlene

Rutland, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, John Charles and O J
Bond, Rutland; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren;
a sister, Florence Beegle, Van Wert, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Golda
Cochran, LaRue, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter,
a grandson, a brother and two sisters.

Thurman Dale Bowers, 69, of Bidwell, Ohio, died Sunday evening,
July 4, 2004, at his home. He was a retired pipefitter of Local
#521, Plumbers and Pipefitters of Huntington, W.Va., and was a
former employee of the Marietta Manufacturing Company. He was
a member of the Minturn Lodge #19 AF&AM, Point Pleasant, W.Va.
Born May 17, 1935, in Mason County, W.Va., he was a son of the
late Theodore and Bertha (Tucker) Bowers.
He is survived by his wife, Jenetta (Smith) Bowers; a daughter
and son-in-law, Dinah and Eric Harmon of Bidwell; a son and daughter-in-law,
Barry and Gertrude "Gerry K" Bowers of Point Pleasant;
and two grandchildren, Elissa Harmon and Matthew A Knopp, both
of Bidwell.

Donald W "Woody" Boyce, 60, of Canal Winchester, Ohio,
died Thursday afternoon, Jan 29, 2004, at Mount Carmel East Hospital
in Columbus, Ohio.
He was a supervisor at Bob Boyd Lincoln Mercury in Columbus, and
was a retired Sergeant Major of the United States Army, where
he proudly served his country for 29 years. He served three tours
of duty during the Vietnam War.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father and adoring grandfather,
and a friend to many.
He was born May 6, 1943, in Point Pleasant, W.Va., son of the
late Russell W and Ruth Doolittle Boyce.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly J Cheesebrew Boyce; a daughter
and son-in-law, Brooke and Carl Kessler of Canal Winchester; a
granddaughter, Emily Rose Kessler; a sister, Alice Ruth Way of
Waverly, Ohio; a stepbrother, Richard Gibbs of Westerville, Ohio;
two stepsisters, Velvet Jackson of Letart, W.Va., and Beth Glover
of Point Pleasant, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews; and many
other family members and friends.

Ardath O Brinker, 91, of Letart, W.Va., died July 7, 2004, at

a machinist from Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp, and was
a World War II Army veteran. Ardath was a member of the American
Legion Post 23, Point Pleasant. He attended Guiding Star Advent
Christian Church, Letart.
Born May 10, 1913, in Letart, he was a son of the late Elmer and
Abbie Ethel (Shirley) Brinker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister,
Freda Kesterson; three half sisters, Agnes Clark, Anna Hart and
Bess McBee; two brothers, Bert Brinker and Fred Brinker Sr.; and
two half brothers, Claude Brinker and Merch Brinker.

John H Brumfield Jr., "Junie", 55, of Point Pleasant,
W.Va., went to join the angels in Heaven on Thursday, June 24,
2004, while in St Mary's Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
He was born March 2, 1949, in Glenwood, W.Va., a son of the late
John H and Mary Booth Brumfield of Glenwood.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother,
Frankie Brumfield; and a sister, Rosella Brumfield.
Junie was a pipefitter for Local No. 521 and belonged to several
organizations.
He is survived by his special love of many years, with whom he
made his home, Linda Haycraft; two daughters and a son-in-law,
Jennifer Brumfield of Huntington, and Debra and James Roberts
of Lesage, W.Va.; a brother, Robert "Bob" Brumfield
of Glenwood; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lillie and
Bud Ward of Milton, W.Va., Shirley Jenkins of Glenwood, and Sarah
and Mike Earls of Lesage; three grandchildren; a host of nephews
and nieces; and friends who loved him dearly.

He was the owner and operator of Burris Farms. He was a founder
of the West Virginia State Farm Museum.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 731,
Point Pleasant; the American Legion, Mason County Post No. 23;
and the National Rifle Association.
Born July 7, 1937, in Point Pleasant, he was a son of the late
John Alvin and Freda Virginia Mattox Byus.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Randall Byus.
He is survived by a son, William Lookado of Vinton, Ohio; three
daughters, Sarah Cathy Hockman of Point Pleasant, and Brenda (Mike)
Cunningham, and Tammy (Oscar) Griffith Jr. of Gallipolis, Ohio;

David Carlisle of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., Joseph and Joyce Carlisle
of Gallipolis Ferry, and JR and Patci Carlisle of Dayton, Ohio;

TAMPA, Fla. -- Robert William Craig, age 86, of Dade City, Fla.,
died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at the James A. Haley VA Hospital
in Tampa, Fla.
He was born Dec. 2, 1917, in Grimms Landing, W.Va., to the late
Ira and Myrtle (McCall) Craig.
He married Bessie Jordan and she died Jan. 5, 1982. On Dec. 3,
1984, he married Eva Eddress Bohanan and she survives.
Also surviving are 14 nieces, five nephews, one stepnephew and
three stepchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers,
Ace Craig, Chancey Craig and Charles Craig; and one sister, Wavie
Wood.
Mr. Craig was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church,
the VFW, the DAV, the American Legion and the Moose Lodge, all
in Florida. At one time, he owned and operated a Children's Day
Care Center in New Mexico, a rest home in Missouri, and a tavern
in Richwood. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the
U.S. Army.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at 1 p.m.
in the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev.
Tim Pasma. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home in LaRue from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

She is survived by her husband, James E Davis of Ashton; a son
and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Davis of Point Pleasant,
W.Va.; daughters and sons-in-law, Dee and Darrell Stover of Henderson,
W.Va., Loretta and Randy Fuls of Fremont, Ohio, and Karla and
Gene Blankenship of Circleville, Ohio; and grandchildren, Jacob
Powers, Garret Blankenship, Travis Davis, Shayla Davis, Morgan
Davis, Aimee Stover Stein, Cameron Stover, AJ Blankenship and
Kelcie Blankenship.
She is also survived by a sister, Phyllis Clark of Clifton Forge;
and brothers and sisters-in-law, Darius and Helen Nicely of Hopewell,
Va., Wayman and Faye Nicely of Nashville, Tenn., and Garland and
Darlene Nicely of Virginia Beach, Va.
Services will be 1 pm Thursday, June 24, 2004, at the Ashton Baptist
Church in Ashton, W.Va. Friends may call at the Deal Funeral Home
in Point Pleasant from 5 to 9 pm Wednesday, June 23, 2004, and
at the church one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Obituaries
Ora Cain DeWeese, 93, of Point Pleasant, W. Va., passed away Sunday
morning, January 11, 2004, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center in Point Pleasant.
She was a homemaker, and had worked at Quality Manufacturing and
the Sylvania Plant in Point Pleasant. She had also attended the
Gospel Tabernacle in Point Pleasant.
She was born July 20, 1910, in Leon, W. Va., daughter of the late
Homer and Deborah Cain Pickens.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by
her husband, Ray DeWeese; three sons, Cecil, Nathan and Earl DeWeese;
two brothers, Mark and Hasil Pickens; a grandson, Gary DeWeese;
and three sisters, Flossie, Cora and Alme.
She is survived by four sons, Basil DeWeese, Bill DeWeese, Jim
DeWeese, and Roger DeWeese; two daughters, Wavy Ann Swink and
Doris May Roseberry ; 35 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren;
59 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous step children and stepgrandchildren.
Services will be 1 pm Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, in the Crow-Hussell
Funeral Home at Point Pleasant, with the Rev Sharon Carr officiating.
Burial will follow at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens, near Point
Pleasant. Visitation will be held in the funeral home from 6 to
9 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2004.

Deaths
Harry Lewis Estep Sr., 56, of Mason, W. Va., died at his residence
Jan. 13, 2004. He was born Jan. 3, 1948, to the late William Estep
and the late Mary Young Estep.
Among the surviving relatives are his wife Jean Estep of Mason,
and his son Harry Estep Jr. of Mason.
A graveside funeral service will be 32 pm Thursday, Jan 15, 2004,
at Circle Cemetery with the Rev Sam Anderson officiating.

Obituaries
On Dec 13, 2002, God sent one of his most precious little angels
(Gracie) to be born to Tryg and Jennifer Farestad II of Sewell,
N.J.
On June 22, 2004, God took little Gracie back to her home in Heaven.
She was only with us 18 months, but brought so much love and happiness
in our lives.
Gracie is survived by her parents; her brother, Tryg Farestad
II; a sister, Greta Farestad; her aunt, Sheri Vergilio of Point
Pleasant, W.Va.; grandparents, Joseph and Cathy Mayes McClelland
of Monroeville, N.J., and Tryg and Sara Farestad of Richwood,
N.J.; great-grandparents, Michael Vergilio of New Jersey, Darrell
Roberts of Henderson, W.Va., and June Roberts of Point Pleasant;
and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Violet Vergilio.
Services were held Friday, June 25, 2004, at the Smith Funeral
Home in Mantua, N.J.

Elizabeth J Finalyson, 81, died Sunday, June 14, 2004, in Point
Pleasant, W.Va.
She was born in Omaha, Neb., raised her children in Liverpool,
N.Y., and retired in 1986 to St Augustine, Fla.
The family is having a private service in Florida.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Donald V Finalyson;
her two daughters, Susan Leonard and her husband Charles of Clay,
N.Y., and Sandra Corbin and her husband Michael of Point Pleasant;
a son, Lawrence Coe and his wife Michele of Palm Coast, Fla.;
five grandchildren, Brandon Leonard, Michael Cassell, Kaitlynn
Corbin, Kelly Coe and Christina Coe; and her beloved sister, Roxie
Arnot and her husband Larry of Duarte, Calif.

Ella Edith Flora, 90, of Southside, W.Va., died Friday, July 2,
2004, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in
Point Pleasant, W.Va.
She was born April 16, 1914, in Wayne County, W.Va., to the late
Willard and Stella Mariah Bench Clagg.
Edith was a homemaker and loved to quilt. She attended the Gospel
Tabernacle Church of Point Pleasant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Delbert E Flora Sr.; two daughters, Peggy Ferguson and Wilma Copley;
a son, Delbert "Sonny Boy" Flora; two granddaughters,
Sandra Isenberg and Nanette Stewart; a grandson, Mark Ward; five
brothers, Raymond, Luther, Walter, Charles and Daniel Clagg; and
four sisters, Mabel Ballangee, Della Moore, Vena Mosco and Virginia
Lewis.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and
Glen Ward of Point Pleasant, Virginia and Charles Glass of Parkersburg,
W.Va., and Pauline and Donald Stewart of Huntington, W.Va.; three
sons and daughters-in-law, Bert and Lucy Flora, and Teddy and
Maxine Flora, all of Southside, and George and Frances Farley
of Pontotoc, Miss.; and 25 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren
and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 pm Monday, July 5, 2004, at the Wilcoxen Funeral
Home in Point Pleasant, with the Rev Harry Moore officiating.
Burial will follow in the Beech Hill Cemetery at Southside. Friends
may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 pm Sunday, July 4, 2004.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gospel Tabernacle
