Effie Mintrell Patterson Siders, 77, of Gallipolis, Ohio, died
January 3, 2004, at her home.
She was a homemaker, and attended Eureka Church of God, Eureka,
Ohio.
Born March 8, 1926, in Mason County, West Virginia, she was a
daughter of the late Jacob and Goldie Patterson.
She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Kathleen, Hazel
and Francis Siders; and four grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Junior Siders of Gallipolis; four sons
and daughters-in-law, Richard and Tessi Siders, William and Shirley
Siders, and Gary and Lynn Siders, all of Gallipolis, and Virgil
and Joanne Patterson of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia; six daughters
and sons-in-law, Linda and Don Wright, Edith and Raymond Fisher,
Margaret and Sam McKinney, and Effie Martin, all of Gallipolis,
Virginia and Jack Large of Pomeroy, Ohio, and Betty and Wallie
Hart of Point Pleasant; 40 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Virginia
Patterson of Gallipolis Ferry; and a sister and brother-in-law,
Louvinia and George Vaughn of Apple Grove, West Virginia.
Services will be 1 pm Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at the Wyoma Pentecostal
Church in Gallipolis Ferry, with the Rev Robert Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Henderson Cemetery, Henderson, West
Virginia. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Monday, January 5, 2004,
at the Deal Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

Herbert Richard Sims, 75, of Point Pleasant, W.Va., died Thursday,
Jan. 29, 2004, at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant.
He was born March 11, 1928, in Detroit, Mich., son of the late
Herbert Webster Sims and Geraldine Margaret Matthews.
He was a truck driver in construction, and was a US Navy veteran.
He was a 50-year life member of Moose Lodge No. 731 in Point Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife, Nelma Sims; three sons and daughters-in-law,
Richard L "Rick" Sims of Point Pleasant, Barry L and
Sherry Sims of Point Pleasant, and Brian W "Doc" and
Ruth Sims of Gallipolis, Ohio; a stepson, Charles L Cather of
Canton, Ohio; a daughter, Cathy A Wray of Gallipolis; and five
grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday, Feb 7,
2004, in the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant,
with the Rev Joe Hammack officiating. Burial will be at the convenience
of the family. There will be no calling hours.

Arthur Dee "Hop" Smith, 71, of Leon, West Virginia,
died Sunday morning, December 28, 2003. He was a retired employee
of CSX and Conrail and Penn Central Railroad, and a US Air Force
veteran.
Born November 19, 1932, in Flatrock, West Virginia, he was a son
of the late William Early and Gertrude August Selby Smith.
He is survived by two brothers, Charles Randall "Coon"
Smith of Flatrock, and James Ronald "Bluegoose" Smith
of Henderson, West Virginia; and three sisters, Janes Carpenter
of Elkview, West Virginia, Mary Lois Easter of Ripley, West Virginia
and Sandra Newton of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Services will be 1 pm Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at the Crow-Hussell
Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, West Virginia, with the Rev. Joe
Hammack officiating. Burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetery,

Brenda Fern Smith, 64, of Point Pleasant, W.Va., died Monday,
Feb. 2, 2004, at Pleasant Valley Hospital.
She was born Jan. 5, 1940, in Mason County, W.Va., daughter of
the late Arthur A McCoy, and Mary E Clonch McCoy.
She was former nurse's aide at Pleasant Valley Hospital and the
Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Henderson, W.Va.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a grandson,
Tim Siders; sisters, Vietta Wright and Linda Johns; and brothers,
Doc, Teddy and Jim McCoy.
She is survived by her husband, Robert "Jody" L Smith
Sr of Point Pleasant; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Georgie
Smith of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., and Robert "Bob" and
Kay Smith of Henderson; her mother, Mary McCoy of Henderson; and

Emma Lou Bush Smith, 78, of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., died Sunday,
June 27, 2004, at Holzer Senior Care Center, Gallipolis, Ohio.
She was retired from Holzer Medical Center where she worked as
a seamstress. She was also a homemaker and a member of Zion Baptist
Church in Gallipolis Ferry.
She was born Sept 24, 1925, in Mason County, W.Va., a daughter
of the late Ira Utley Burris and Bessie Wallace Burris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first
husband, Guy Bush and her second husband, Harvey Smith.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Violet Henry of Gallipolis
Ferry; a stepgrandson, Randy Henry of Gallipolis Ferry; a sister
and brother-in-law, Vonna M and Robert Oliver Sr. of Gallipolis
Ferry; a niece, Sandra Rayburn of Gallipolis Ferry; and two nephews,
Robert Oliver Jr. of Florida and Richard L Oliver of Kentucky.

Charles William Stevens, 74, of Beaver Pike, Beaver, Ohio, died
Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical
Center, Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was born Sept 8, 1929, in Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., son of the
late Albert and Aften Litchfield Stevens.
On May 5, 1951, he was united in marriage to Winifred Bowcott
Stevens who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles William (Emma) Stevens Jr.
and grandson, Austin of Beaver, and John Scott (Marsha) Stevens
and granddaughters, Tara and Tiffany of Beaver; a brother, Leroy
(Phyllis) Stevens of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was a retired truck driver, owner-operator of Stevens
Quick Lunch in Beaver, and a veteran of US Army in the Korean
Conflict.
Services will be 10:30 am Sunday June 27, 2004, at the Howe Wheeler
Boyer Hornback Funeral Home in Piketon, Ohio, with Elder Wayne
Rigsby officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Union Cemetery.
Military graveside services will be conducted.

Jack Stewart, 68, of Walton,
W.Va., died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at St Francis Hospital in
Charleston, W.Va., following a heart attack.
A retired foreman for Appalachian Power, he worked at the John
Amos Plant in Winfield, W.Va., and the Philip Sporn Plant in New
Haven, W.Va.
He was a 1953 graduate of Wahama High School, a member of the
White Falcon Band, and was active in the Future Farmers of America.
He was a farmer and an avid horseman.
Born July 18, 1935, at Mason, W.Va., he was a son of the late
Wilbur "Reuben" and Frances Aumiller Stewart.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Delorris Stewart; sons Timothy
Jack Stewart, Floyd "Butch" Stewart and his wife Sandy,
all of Mason, and Brice R Jett and his wife Kimberly of Manassas,
Va.; daughters, Jackie Renee Byars and her husband Scott of Louisa,
Va., and Lisa Crump and her husband Paul of New Haven.
Also surviving are a brother, Gary Stewart and his wife Linda
of Point Pleasant, W.Va.; a sister Mary Fowler of Point Pleasant;
grandchildren Nikki, James, Kristina, Eric, Lillian, Rosse, Bethany,
April and Buzzy; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at the Matics

Garnette Tillis Stanley, 98, of Point Pleasant, W Va., died Wednesday,
March 31, 2004, at Pleasant.
She was born May 29, 1905, in Arbuckle, W Va., to the late John
Coulter Tillis and Alma Miller Tillis.
Garnette was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Point Pleasant,
the Col. Charles Lewis Chapter of the DAR, and a retired teacher
of vocational home economics at Point Pleasant High School for
41 years.
She is survived by a sister, Marjorie Tillis King of New Martinsville,
W Va.; three nieces, Susan (King) Lesher and John of Newark, Del.,
Marilyn (King) Ingold and Paul of Greensboro, N.C., and Jeane
(King) Hinkel and Harry of Easton, Md.
A nephew, John H King and Daphne of Wheeling, W Va.; and eight
great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 am Saturday, April 3, 2004, in the Wilcoxen

She was born Jan. 27, 1936 in Wood County, W.Va., daughter of

She was retired from Flowernook as a florist and owner after 35
years. She was a member of the First Church of God in Point Pleasant
and was a member of the Gallia Twirlers of Henderson, W.Va.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother,
Jearold Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Thornton of Point Pleasant;
two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Pam Burnett of Point Pleasant,
and Steven and Liz Burnett of Point Pleasant; two daughters and
a son-in-law, Debbie and Tom Watts of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Donna
Litchfield of Point Pleasant; and her mother, Ruth Jenkins of
Point Pleasant.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Paige and Matthew Huck,
Chris Watts, Matthew Burnett, Ashley Litchfield, Adam Litchfield

husband, Howard A Musgrave, who died in 1952, and her second husband
Frank W Ury, who died in 1973; a son, Gary Wayne Musgrave, who
died in 2002; brothers, Charles and John Milan; and sisters, Elizabeth
and Anna Milan, and Grace Kisko.
She is survived by her sons, Tom Musgrave Ury of Point Pleasant,
and Harold Musgrave of Miami, Fla.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren
and three great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law,
Edward R and Louise Milan of Flatwoods, W.Va.; sisters and a brother-in-law,

He was born September 18, 1965, in Gallipolis, Ohio, a son of
Larry L and Mary Carolyn Wiley of New Haven, West Virginia.
He graduated from Wahama High School and attended Marshall and
Fairmont universities. He was an Army veteran and a member of
the United Methodist Church in Hew Haven.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Arthur William
Wiley of Georgia; a sister, Jennifer (Nick) Romeo of Alliance,
Ohio; a niece and nephew, Mariana and Phillip Romeo of Alliance;
and an uncle, David (Ruth Ann) Wiley of Charleston, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, David and
Eleanor Miller, and paternal grandparents Dick and Thelma Wiley.
Memorial service will be 3:30 pm Saturday, January 3, 2004, at
Grace Episcopal Church in Pomeroy, Ohio. With the Rev. Walter
Heinz officiating. A private graveside service will be conducted

William E "Billy" Wright Jr., 46, of Reagan, Tenn.,
formerly of Mason, W.Va., passed away May 25, 2004, at his home
following an extended illness. He was born Dec. 12, 1957, in Mason,
a son of Norma Wright of Harmony, W.Va., and the late William
E Wright Sr.
He graduated from Wahama High School in Mason. He was a US Army
veteran, serving four years, and was employed as a construction
worker.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Amber Wright
of Reagan; two sons, Nicholas Edward Wright and Shay Lynn Wright;
two sisters, Drema Ussery of New Haven, W.Va., and Jean Asbury
of Harmony; two nieces, Danielle Asbury of Harmony and Nicole
Lawton of Walton, W.Va.; and two great-nieces, Serenity Asbury
and Casey Lawton.
Graveside service was held May 28, 2004, at the Chapel Hill Cemetery
in Lexington, Tenn.
Arrangements were under the direction of Reed's Chapel Funeral
Home, Lexington.
