Pvt Thomas A. Taylor
Thomas A Taylor, a private in the US Army, was killed in Korea on July 20, 1950.
Taylor was born in Roderfield, WV, on April 9, 1930. He was the son of James H Taylor and Ethel Daniels Taylor, the daughter of William and Stella Spencer Daniels. His family moved to Genesee, NY, around 1948.
Pvt. Taylor enlisted in the Marines in Logan, WV, then transferred to the Army. The Korean War started on June 25, and Pvt Taylor was killed on July 20, 1950. His body was later returned to Roderfield, WV, and he was buried at Iaeger Memorial Cemetery.
Tim Balonek is compiling a Gold Star Memorial Book dedicated to soldiers who gave their lives during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He is trying to find a picture of Pvt Taylor and a picture of Taylor's cemetery marker.
Taylor's family was living in Adkin, WV, when the 1940 census was taken. However, it's possible that they also lived in Brown's Creek or perhaps Roderfield, so we're not sure which schools he might have attended. But, we are hoping someone has a photo (perhaps a school yearbook with a picture?) of him.
If you have any information on Pvt Taylor, please contact Elizabeth Reed-Eanes.
