Hello, I am searching for a Helen Canellas Garner Mullins. She was married to Willard Garner first, whise parents were Betty and Malcolm Garner. Malcolm, and his two sons were killed in the pond creek mine explosion of 1940. Then sometime after the explosion Helen married a Jessie Mullins. We think that Helen and Willard had a son together, named Franklin. Hope to hear back from someone. Thanks,
In doing general research on McDowell Co, families, I have come up with an apparent conflict which I hope someone can shed light on. Paris Jones born 24 Apr 1866 in McDowell Co; died 8 Apr 1956 at Roderfield and is buried in Iaeger Memorial Cemetery is listed as a son of David and Levicy (Stacy) Jones in the 1880
Census; yet both his marriage to Melvinia Coleman and his death certificate shows his mother as Cynthia Lester. Paris is not shown with David and Levicy in the 1870 Census but is listed with Cynthia Lester, his mother in this 1870 Census. Were there two David Jones or just one with two spouses? I have not been able to reconcile this difference. I can find no other linkage between David Jones and Cynthia Lester. Please help!
Would someone check and see if a tombstone has been purchased for John Morgan Spears and his wife Esther Hettie Hamilton in the Lomax cemetery. Also, is there a tombstone for Arthur Spears who died in 1917 in a coal mining accident. Visited many years ago and there were no tombstones. Thanks so much,

Hello, I am working on a story about the West Virginia Flying Corps, which was formed in 1917 in Beech Bottom, Brooke County. Among the men enrolled in the Corps was C. B. Lambert, of Welch. Mr. Lambert was killed and his flight instructor seriously injured in a crash at Beech Bottom on August 3, 1917.
Although services were held for Mr. Lambert in Wellsburg, Brooke County, I understand that he was interred with military honors in McDowell County. Contemporary newspaper articles indicate that Mr. Lambert was from a prominent family in Welch. Can you (or the Historical Society) provide me with any information (biographical or otherwise) on Mr. Lambert and his family?
Any information that you can provide will be appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.Thank you,
Any chance anyone would have a picture of a store called Wingos Grocery in War, WV--about 60 years ago? Apparently, it's a funeral home today.Thank you,
Currently, I am researching the family members of Pleasant and Mary Margaret Cavender Robinson. Does anyone know if there is a grave yard in Browns Creek W.Va. county of McDowell? I have come across the list of their children and am looking for Andrew Jackson Robinson born in Browns Creek 1827 and his wife's name was: Lucretia Withrow Robinson. If you can help me please respond.Thank you,
I grew up in Venus, #10, Gary. My grandfather began the little church at #10 that once was a school and I attended that church with my family until we moved away. I have several photos of the church when it was a school but would love to see more. If you have a photo of it when it was a school, please consider sending it to me. I would even appreciate photos when it was a church. I would especially like to have photos from 1946 until 1964.
