In search of information on my grandmother Elsie Ilene Whitehead born in Bluefield WV in 1911. Fathers name is John Whitehead, mothers name is Bettie Duff. She married Dewey George Kendrick Sept. 7, 1929 in Phoebus, VA. Elizabeth City County. She had three children by Dewey Kendrick, a son Dewey Jr., Elsie Louise born 5-22-31 Fort Monroe VA, & Barbara Leigh born 6-13-33 Fort Monroe VA. She is believed to have divorced Dewey Sr. in 1934 or 1935. The two oldest children were put in foster care and the infant stayed with Elsie. It is possible that Barbara Leigh does not know that she has older siblings. Elsie is believed to have been living in Blacksburg VA in the early 1960's or 1970's. I'm looking for information on my grandmother, Gladys Ruth Henderson, and her family. She married William McAdoo Craig of Knoxville, Tennessee sometime around 1920 and had two children, Margaret Ruth b. 1923 and William McAdoo (my dad) b. 1924. She and my grandfather were divorced when my father was young and I only saw her once when I was very small. She died sometime in the mid-late 1950s. The only other information I've ever been given about her is that she was from Bluefield, W. Va. Thanks!
