BALLENGEE, BLANCHARD, THOMAS, TOMLIN, TOMLINSON, WILSON -
Once again, I am in need of help. I've been trying to find my grandmother's maiden name, but with NO luck at all !!! Grandfather was Joseph B. Blanchard. 1st marriage to Hester Wilson Blanchard, Cabell Co. WV. 2nd marriage, in 1892/93 was to "O. Ella Blanchard" ( as is written on my mothers Birth Cert, Fayette Co., WV, 1906). I have tons of info on Hester, her kids w/ Joseph, and on Joseph and his family in Gates Co., NC. But, aside from a 1900 census doc that shows Ella as the 7 year wife of Joseph Blanchard, still in Cabell Co., WV, I cannot find anything on her. So, I'm going to try a different tact, but I'll need help. Maybe lots. So here goes.
I have 3 sisters. The oldest sent me handwritten papers re; our family line. Don't know who prepared it, nor when, and it's a bit difficult to follow. The next oldest sister, who spent a fair amount of time with my Mom, before she died, swears that Mom told her that our grandmothers maiden name was TOMLINSON, or TOMLIN, or THOMAS. So, it would be O. Ella TOMLINSON, or etc., etc. On FamilySearch site, I did find an Ella TOMLINSON, and an Ella THOMAS, both about the right age. But since that website only has the 1880 census, I couldn't follow it up. Now, to the handwritten papers from the oldest sister. It avows that our maternal side descended from the WV family of John H. BALLENGEE. At the bottom of page 2 it lists Isaac Sr. as 4th g grandfather, Isaac Jr. as 3rd g grandfather, Eli as 2nd g grandfather, and Jane Ballengee (Eli's daughter) born 1853, Monroe Co., VA, as our g grandmother (who I believe, per a Ballengee Family History document I found on the FamilySearch site, IF she was Mary Jane Ballengee, did in fact marry James W. TOMLINSON on 10 Oct 1867 in Monroe Co., WV. (14 years old????????). Here's the rub. On the handwritten papers, it declares that our grandmother was "Ritchia", who "married a Mr. Blanchard", and they produced Leah, Naomi, and Wilma (my Mom). Now, how we go from "O. Ella" to "Ritchia", I do not know.
Eli Ballengee died 13 June 1900, in Talcott, WV, at the home of his son Richard Thomas Ballengee, as recorded in the Monroe Co, Deaths Vol 28:9. I do know that my Mom had strong ties with Talcott, WV. (Aunt Myrtle), and with others there, and visited them from time to time. So, I suppose what I need is for some census research for James W. TOMLINSON & Jane Ballengee TOMLINSON, who had a daughter named "O. Ella Tomlinson" or Ritchia Tomlinson" that would have been old enough to have married Joseph Blanchard in 1892-93. It seems to center around Monroe & Summers Co., WV. We might even be able to find Joseph & Ella's marriage record now, if this pans out.
Remember, I can only access the 1880 census, but I need research both before and after 1880. Since WV gained Statehood in 1883 June 20 , 1863 from VA, if I plug in Monroe Co., VA, I get nothing, and Monroe Co., WV, produces nothing, because the census loads 1880 data for one or the other. And, it doesn't allow for marriage searches for the US. So, I need some help. If you can read and understand this mess, without getting heartburn or a severe headache, and are inclined to help me out, I'd be eternally grateful

CLIFT, DODSON -
I'm looking for information on James Dodson, who, according to an old family historian, married Georgeanna Clift in Matoka, WV., sometime before 1887. James is my G Grandfather. They both died in 1890 either on a train trip, or shortly thereafter, back to their original home in Patrick Co., Va. My grandfather, Zachariah Flemon Dodson,b. 1887, was only 3 yrs old at the time of their death, his sister , Nannie Berta, b. 1890, was only a few months old at the time. My grandfather was born in Patrick Co, Va., but his sister is listed in several sites as being born in Boone Co., WV. My primary interest is finding any documents/gravesites r/t them. Can't find the graves in the Dodson, Va., area, so they may be buried in Mercer Co. Thanks for any information you can find. Truman Dodson

PINE, RANGELEY -
I am asking for help in locating living relatives or co-workers of Ann Rangeley. Ann was born in Princeton as Ann Tabb Pine in about 1900, and she was the daughter of Lewis A. Pine. Ann married my grandfather, James S. Rangeley, in about 1923, and the couple lived in Christiansburg, Virginia until they separated in the 1940's, when Ann Rangeley returned to Princeton. They had no children. Ann Rangeley died in 1960 and is buried in Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. I am hoping that you can direct me to a few residents of Princeton who are interested in the town's history, are old enough to remember Ann Rangeley, or could identify others in a position to give me more information about her. I am particularly interested in personal recollections, although documents such as her obituary would also be valuable to me. I would be happy to pay a researcher for the time and inconvenience of looking for such documents and copying them. Thank you in advance
