MEANS, SNODGRASS -
Am looking to find a location in Mercer County called the Indain Hill. It is mentioned
in my 4th Great Grand fathers will, as land he owned. Also if any one knows where this was, or
is, if there are any cemeteries dating to 1850 nearby, am looking for the grave of Hugh
Means. This is not the Hugh who Married a Snodgrass

Hi, Can anyone tell me how to get to Pigeon Creek, in Mercer County, I have been told
there is a cemetery there, called Schemate, I am not sure of the spelling, I live in
Northern Ky. Elsmere, my mom will be 90 years old and I am trying to find out for her. I have
came to Mercer County, West Va. for the last three years trying to find where my granddad is
buried. I hope you can help me. Thanks

Looking for information on Tazewll C. Rutledge B. 5/7/1859 D. 9/21/1942 & Ella
Basham B. 5/24/1862 D. 9/19/1935. Both are buried in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery,
Lashmeet, Mercer WVA. Tazewell's father was Samuel T. Rutledge 1832-1899 & Adaline
Sartin (Sartain). It appears Tazewll spent his life in or near Matoaka, Mercer,
WVA.

LANKFORD, WILLARD -
My grandfather, Leonard Lankford, was born in Bluefield, WV, 6/30/1925 his birth mother
appears to have been a lady named Etta Willard and his adoptive mother and father were
Maggie Overbee Lankford (b. 5/2/1888) and Thomas Jefferson Lankford (b.6/3/1881).
Does anyone have information/connections on ANY of these people?

JEWELL, PLASTER, SMITH -
My ggmother, Margaret Ellen JEWELL married Ransey SMITH. Their children included
Mary Luvenia SMITH, John SMITH, and others. Mary L. SMITH married Frank
ESTES with children being Elsie ESTES, Bruce ESTES, and more. Frank ESTES
died somewhere between 1910 and 1920. Mary Luvenia then married Willie Heber PLASTER. All
three men were miners at some time during their life span. Localities, McDowell Co. WV, Mercer
Co., WV., eastern TN, Welch, Panther, Montgomery Co., VA., Tazewell, VA., and Patrick Springs,
VA. I know there are descendants of the Smith Family still in WV, just don't know where
or who they are. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Looking for information on Benjamin Russel and his wife Jane in Mercer Co., WV. Jane was
the widow of Fleming Vest, her maiden name was Jane Boid from Franklin Co. VA.
Benjamin and Jane married in Mercer Co. and had several children together. Jane also had children
from her marriage to Fleming. From the 1880 census I can not tell if Benjamin was married before,
but it is possible. Their daughter Harriet O. Russel married my gggrandfather James
Mitchem. In 1900 James and Harriet and children were living in Ada, Mercer Co., WV. Would
appreciate any information on Benjamin and/or Jane. Thank you.
