REYNOLDS, THOMAS -
I'm looking for someone to point me in the right direction.
My grandfather, J. L.
Reynolds (Jeremiah Lennon - I believe) who died long before I was born, was reportedly
born in Bedford County Virginia in September, 1880. He died on or about June 4th, 1919. According
to various conflicting reports, he still lived in the Bedford County area at the time - in
Lynchburg, or possibly the Bluefield/Princeton area of West Virginia. He was married to Lena
Reynolds (nee Thomas) also of that area who was born 8/15/86. They were married
12/23/08 in Bedford County Virginia. They had four children at the time and she was pregnant with
a fifth - my father. He worked for a railroad in the area - name unknown, reportedly as a
conductor or brakeman. Before the family moved to Mooseheart Illinois in 1919, they lived at 401
Key Street in Princeton. I'm looking for some information on his death - from old news clippings,
or the county, etc. to trace the nature of his passing so young and any remaining family members.
How can I track him down? Was a local newspaper in existence then - and do they have
archives? Are there any local people who could help me trace my family - for a fee? Any help
would be appreciated.

CLAY, COEN, O'ROURKE -
I am looking for my great-grandfather, Robert Coen, who my Mother told me is buried in
Bluefield. He immigrated from Dungarvan, Ireland along with his sister Anna Marie, Dorthea Jane,
and brother Thomas. He was born c. 1854-no baptismal record found for him in Dungarvan, but both
of his sisters I have a record of. Robert's parents were Thomas Coen, birth circa 1820 in
Ireland. Mother Ellen O'Rourke (sp?) My Mother remembers her grandfather as being called
Robert, and her grandmother, Nanny Clay.

ABRAMOVIC, BRAMOVICH, MANCE, MILATOVIC, MILATOVICH -
In 2001, I posted a query on a neighboring county's site asking where Crystal, WV is
located. My g-grandmother Franka "Fanny" ABRAMOVIC (b. 1892 Skrad, Rijeka-Fiume, Croatia)
m. 1911 Pocahontas, Tazewell Co, VA to Mato MILATOVIC (MILATOVICH) (b. 1892
Satornja, Glina, Croatia). Fanny was the daughter of Anton "Tony" ABRAMOVIC (later
BRAMOVICH) and Mary MANCE; Fanny's place of residence was listed as Crystal, WV on
the marriage license. Fanny and Mato's first four children were born in WV: Mary (1912), Anna
(1913), Joseph (1916), and Thelma (1918): all in Elbert, McDowell Co. except Joseph, who was b.
in Crystal, WV - but I couldn't figure out where that was.
I would like to thank the many
kind folk who have emailed me with a response. I thought others might be interested to know the
following, which is a summary of the information provided everyone:
According to
Bullingers Postal and Shippers Guide, Crystal is in Mercer County, WV, near Rock, WV,
and Bluefield, WV. An online list of place names in West Virginia shows that Crystal was in
Mercer Co. in 1911. It is about ten miles from Bluefield and about five miles from the McDowell
county line, midway between Montcalm and McComas (also between Montcalm and Cane Creek).
Crystals nearest neighbor, less than a mile to the east, is Godfrey. Crystal doesnt appear on
most maps because it is such a small place - not even a town, just a small coal mining community
- and there may be nothing left there now. Any records for people who lived in Crystal should be
located at the Mercer County courthouse in Princeton, WV.
Hope this helps someone, and thanks
to all who responded!
