In furnishing Keyser residents with the choicest of fresh
and cured meats the City Market has acquired an enviable reputation.
It is essentially a home industry and as such is justly entitled to a
liberal patronage. All meats are dressed here, and none but selected
home-raised stock is utilized.
An immense refrigerator insures the perfect condition of
meats, and for the convenience of patrons a few delivery is
maintained. Mr Workman has in his employ James Robey, a butcher of
over ten years, active experience. this market is headquarters for
pure ice, regular deliveries being made to customers.
This is the oldest market in Keyser, the business being
succeeded to four years ago by its present proprietor. Mr Workman was
raised in Mineral County, his father, Mr Jos Workman, having been one
of the pioneers of this section, conducting a general store in New
Creek in the 70's, and afterward retiring to his farm. Growing up in
this section, Mr R M Workman has a wide acquaintance throughout the
county. He lives with his family in his attractive residence in Keyser.
