William H. Ansel, Jr., was a native of Springfield, Hampshire County, West Virginia. He was engaged in the practice of law at Romney. He received his academic training at Potomac State College, Shepherd College and the College of Law, West Virginia University. He was a former teacher and spent many years in public life, having been a member of the WV Legislature, Asst. Attorney General and Treasurer of West Virginia. This is the result of his life-long interest in local and regional history.
