THE GEM PHARMACY
J B CRISER, PROPRIETOR; L L KIMES, MANAGER MAINSTREET
"Progress" is an excellent business watchword. It
denotes so many things ambition, desire to please and energy. A
business built upon such a foundation is bound to grow and thrive. It
cannot help it. In the retail drug business, more than any other,
perhaps, daintiness, cleanliness and beauty of surroundings have more
and greater influence upon possible customers than other things; and
when to these is added "progress" as defined above, a
complete and well selected stock of salable articles, fresh drugs and
chemicals and absolute accuracy in compounding, the combination is
irresistible. The Gem Pharmacy was opened one year ago last may, and
the management from the inception of the business has been in the
able hands of L L Kimes. Mr Kimes is a registered pharmacist, who has
been in the drug business for the past six years, having been with
several other pharmacies in Keyser.
There is a neat and attractive look about the Gem Pharmacy,
and the interior decorations have been artistically finished. the
fixtures are of hardwood, natural oak, finish, and an art of newness
marks the entire establishment. The drugs, etc., also are new and
fresh a big point in prescription work. A stock of toilet and fancy
articles and a line of cigars is also carried.
The proprietor, Mr J B Criser, has for the past 36 years,
been in the employ of the B&O RR, and is at present on a
conductor's run between Cumberland and Grafton. Mr Criser has
considerable property interests in Keyser, where he has made his home
for the past twenty-three years.
