HARNESS RUN
In Harness Run, just up the road from the Welton
School, there is an old log house which was first built by the Smith family
before WV became a state. It was sold
to Arthur Wilson.
The road to Harness Run from Burlington was once
called the Patterson Creek Turnpike.
There was a tollhouse at the Eugene Woodworth home, and money collected
was used to keep up the road.
There was a sawmill close to Harness Run
School, near the home of Raphael Leatherman.
His father saved the rough lumber for the school, and the community
built the schoolhouse.
