TUCKER / FERREBEE CEMETERY

THIS INFORMATION WAS SENT TO ME BY GARY TUCKER OF RUSSELLVILLE ARKANSAS. SPECIAL THANKS TO GARY AND DOTTIE HUGHES OF ANTIOCH FOR SURVEYING THIS CEMETERY AND THE PHOTOGRAPHS.

The Ferrebee portion of the cemetery is represented by numerous engraved stones, and that is what Dottie has provided. The Tucker portion is represented by a number of graves that apparently did not originally have engraved markers. Over a period of many years research, I have reconstructed a major portion of the Tucker burials, primarily through information provided by family members. This cemetery is located at the apparent edge of the farm which was purchased and occupied by John and Betsy (Walker) Tucker and their family in about 1838. Previously they lived on a farm on the west side of Knobley Road in the area just south of Falls, present Grant County. Their oldest son, Joseph Tucker, remained in that area and raised families by two wives. Their daughter Martha (Tucker) Harris lived in the Martin area. Today there is no descendant who carries the Tucker name remaining in either Grant or Mineral county. Many descendants of other names, however, remain in the area.
Cemetery is located near Antioch on Tucker Ridge road at a point 1.9 miles from its intersection with Knobley Road. Enter the metal gate on Tucker Ridge road and walk straight back to cemetery. This cemetery contains numerous engraved stones for members of the Ferrebee family. The Ferrebee stones are located in the front section of the cemetery, i.e., closest to Tucker Ridge Road. None of the Tucker graves appear to have been marked originally with engraved stones. Several have been marked with homemade cement block markers, which are now illegible but could be read easily in 1985 when first visited by Gary Tucker. Ida (Tucker) (Doll) Berg, daughter of Henry Tucker, was responsible for placement of the cement block markers (per Joseph Carl Doll). The list of Tucker burials has been reconstructed from these stones and information provided by family members.
