MAYNARD, RALPH: I am seeking information from the family of Ralph Maynard of Wilsondale. Ralph was killed in Vietnam, April 1969. I was Ralph's military escort. looking for any information about who John Dempsey's (I do have a picture)dad was--his mother was Ruthie Starr---I strongly suspect that it was John Dempsey who ran the grocery store and eventually married Minerva Vance around (give or take a year or two ) 1840. According to census records their was a young female living with him in 1830. I am looking for information on my husbands great-grandparents. His grandparents were Willis Ferrell and Laura Nancy Davis Ferrell, they lived in Big Ugly, Lincoln,WV, in the 1920's and 1930's. My grandfather was born 1916 in Delbarton, Mingo County, WV. His name was James P Hensley, (I was once told that the P stood for Pharoah according to an old family bible) and he was a coal miner who later moved to Columbus, Ohio and died in 1979. His parents were Henry Hensley and Columbia Maynard (?) He married Garnett Mills, a Cherokee Indian who later died (approx. July 1942) after giving birth to my father, Denver Clifton Hensley (June 17, 1942-November 25, 2000). They lived in Martin County, Kentucky. I am trying to find any info. on Columbia Maynard and family, and Henry Hensley and family......and whether I have any living relatives. Thank you!!

I am looking for info on Bill Collins who married Mary Chaffin. They had 4 childred Jim, William, Andrew and Ruby. Jim and William (my grandfather) were born in Mingo County and Andrew and Ruby were born in Kentucky. I believe Bill died around 1926 and is buried in W Va. Mary was the daughter of Billy and Elizabethon Chaffin who owned a post office and general store. Bill was first married to a Hester Elmo and they had a son named Lawrence. Hello -- I am trying to find the parents of my great-grandmother, Lucinda Marcum. According to the 1900 census for Mingo Co., Lucinda was born in March 1873. She married Finley Sheppard around 1890. She said on the census that she was born in West Virginia, her father was born in WV, and her mother was born in Kentucky. He departed in Early 1944 for service. Spent some time in Hawii. He was Killed In Action on Iwo Jima, Japan, shot by a sniper, back of head. His name is on the WW II Memorial Monument, Located at Charleston, WVA, Dedicated 6 June 1994. He is buried at: Mae Cemetary, Pond Creek, McAndrews, Ky. Searching for information about Retha Terry, who married Joe Edwards Marcum in Lawrence County, Ky in 1932. Retha Terry was born ca 1914 in Ky. Joe E. looking for any information on my great grandfather, {Cornelious May George} its my understanding that he was a school teacher and minister, all 6' 5" of him. was told that he died in either 1912 or 1913, around matewan in mingo county. i was told that there was quite a family fued over his estate, after his death, and that the estate was tied up the in courts in mingo county for many years. also trying to find out information about my great uncle Robert Burns George, and his wife Olli Christian George. i was told that they lived and died at Sprigg, in mingo county, Robert was supposed to of died in either 1934-1935. also looking for information about my gandmother Effie Irene George Boyd, she lived in matewan until her death on 12-15-1961. my mother Inez Virginia McNeely was also fron mingo county, she was born in nolan in 1912, her parents were Floyd Thomas McNeely and Marinda Harper McNeely, who are both buried at the Maher Memorial Gardens, north of Nolan, in ming! o county, West Virginia. my grandmothers sister, Erie George married a Fred Webb and they had 7 daughters. i was told that Fred Webb was involved in the mine wars in mingo county during the 20's, and was indicted, but later the charges were dismissed. i found that i still have a aunt Bernice Hensley living north of Nolan, in mingo county, a retired registured nurse. my father, Bixie Paul George married a girl from Mingo county, but do not know her name. my father was first known as Bill Skivers and then his name was changed to Bixie Paul George later on in his life. he had a brother by the name of Howard Foush. my father was born in Freeburn, Kentucky in 1909. i am supposed to have a cousin, Demple (Dee) Ruth Webb Roberts that is living in a nursing home in williamson at this time, she recently had a stroke and is in a wheel chair. i have found out that alot of my amily is from mingo county, or moved there, from Kentucky. also i recently found out that i had a brother by the name of Watson Ray Davis. i understand that he grew p and went to school at williamson. Ray died in 1996 before i got to meet him. Ray was 20 when i was born in Dec of 1955. This is going to be a long shot for me but I am looking for the parents of Willie Dotson, this is the BIG problem. They lived on Glen Alum and his father was killed in a mining accident and his mother (we think) commited suicide. (stood in front of a train or something). We dont know who his parents were or even the names of the Dotsons that addopted him. Another thing we want to know is Where did all the other childern go? We know that his mother seperated them between the neighbors and then left out that day, but NO ONE EVER talked about it so we have no more to go on other than this......We would love to know where the other childern were and who the parents were and what not. Willie would be my ggg grandfather. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
