Long, Curt M., 40, of Venice Fl., formerly of Wheeling, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000. He was an employee of A-Plus Vacuum Doctor in Venice, a former tile and marble setter, and a member of the Venice Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene. Surviving are his mother, Genevieve Long of Englewood, Fla; his father Eugene and his wife Barbara Long of Wheeling; a sister, Kim Romine and her husband David of Venice, two brothers, Chris and his wife Karen of Venice, and Melvin and his wife Pat of Bellaire, two nieces, Amber Long and Melissa; four nephews, Nathan, Jason, Barrett and Ben; a great-niece, Akira. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8pm. Wednesday at Ewing Funeral Home, Venice, where services will be held at 10 am.. Thursday. Interment in Venice Memorial Gardens. Former 60s Singer Gene Long Dies

     Eugene Drew Long, former singer with the Chris and Gene Long Brothers Band in the mid-60's, died Monday, April 27, 1998, in Heartland Health Care Center, Lansing. He was 51.
     A resident of South Front Street, Wheeling, he was born Nov. 24, 1946, in Wheeling, the son of Eugene G. and Genevieve Mae Davis Long, both of Wheeling.
     He and his brother had a long-term contract with Jubilee Records which distributed their records all over the country. They recorded at Capital Recording Studios in New York with a 15-piece orhcestra behind them. The session was arranged and conducted by the John Abbott Orchestra.
     After his singing career with his brother Chris, Gene continued his career by singing with a local group called The Blenders for many years.
     Long was a member of Laborers Local No. 1149, Wheeling, a Jehovah's Witness, a veteran of the Vietnam War, and a former member of the Wheeling Eagles Aeries.
     Surviving in addition to his parents are a daughter, Gena Renae of Wheeling; three brothers, Christopher E. and Curt M. Long, both of Venice, Fla., and Melvin C. Long of Bridgeport; a sister, Mrs. David A. (Kim P.) Romine of Venice; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
     Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kepner Funeral Home, 1308 Chapline St., Wheeling, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, with Richard Bomgren officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.


     LONG, Genevieve Mae Davis "Jenny," 74, of IHS Venice North Center, Venice, Fla., died Thursday, June 14, 2001, in the center.
     She was a self-employed entertainer.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Virginia Mae Duffy Davis; two sons, Eugene and Curt Long; four brothers; a sister. She is survived by two sons, Christopher E. Long and his wife, Karen, of Venice, Fla., Melvin C. Long and his wife, Patty, of Bellaire, Ohio; one daughter, Kim P. Romine and her husband, Dave, of Venice, Fla.; four grandsons, Benjamin Long of North Carolina, Barrett Long of Venice, Fla., Nathan and Jason Romine, both of Venice, Fla.; two granddaughters, Melissa Remo of Sarasota, Fla., and Amber Long of Martins Ferry, Ohio; two great-granddaughters.
     Friends will be received on Sunday, June 17, 2001, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, National Road at Bethany Pike, Wheeling, where memorial services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m., with Brother Joseph Witzberger. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

     LONG, Eugene G. "Gene," 86, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, formerly of Wheeling Island, died February 9, 2011 in Park Health Care Center.
     Gene was born December 29, 1924 in Wheeling, W.Va., a son of the late Eugene and Clara Pack Long.
     He was retired from Bricklayers and Tile Setters Local #1 in Wheeling, W.Va. and was a locally known entertainer.
     Preceding him in death was his wife, Barbara Ann Kull Long, two sons, Gene Long and Curt Long; two sisters, Elinor Johnson and Virginia Bock; and a brother, Jack Long.
     Surviving are two sons, Melvin (Patty) Long of Bellaire, Ohio, and Chris (Rebekah) Long of Englewood, Fla.; a daughter, Kim (David) Romine of Englewood, Fla.; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
     Family and friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday.
     Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Wheeling, W.Va.
