     Robert Lincoln Ramsay, attorney, has been a member of the West Virginia Bar since 1901, and has practiced in Wellsburg since 1905. He is now associated in practice with State Senator William S. Wilkin, in the firm of Ramsay & Wilkin. Mr. Ramsay has long been before the public in offices of importance, and is Mentioned favorably for high State and national posts.
     He was elected prosecuting attorney of Brooke County, W. Va., in 1908, Serving till 1912, when be became a candidate for State Senator and was defeated in a very close vote. In 1916 he was again elected prosecuting attorney of Brooke County and served till 1920. In 1922 he was candidate for the Democratic nomination for Congress, being defeated by only 20 votes in a poll that included seven counties. Since 1905 he has been City Attorney of Follansbee, W. Va., where he resides. During the World War he served on every war board or committee in Brooke County; being chairman or president of some, and an active member of others.
     In June, 1927, Mr. Ramsay was appointed by Governor Gore of West Virginia as Governor-at-Large on the Board of Governors of West Virginia University, which post he now fills. He is attorney for the Follansbee Bank, district counsel for the West Penn Electric Company, district counsel for the Manufacturers Light, Heat & Power Company, and counsel for numerous other corporations.
     Mr. Ramsay was born in Durham, England, March 24, 1877, son of John and Elizabeth (Lumsdon) Ramsay, and was brought to America when four years old (1881), to New Cumberland, W. Va. He attended New Cumberland High School and graduated in law at West Virginia University (LL.B., 1901). He began to practice law in New Cumberland in 1901, associated with John R. Donhoe, continuing the partnership until 1905, when he removed to Wellsburg and practiced alone. Since 1917 he has been senior member of the firm of Ramsay & Wilkin.
     He was married, on February 12, 1908, to Miss Edna Brindley, of Wellsburg. They have one daughter, Charlotte, born in 1909, a student at Bethany College; and a son, Robert L., Jr., born in 1914, a student at Follansbee High School.
     Mr. Ramsey is a member of the State, County and American Bar Associations, is an Elk and an Odd Fellow.
